Exactly, because of mobility issues I can get RM to collect from my doorstep and even bring my label with them. It's the simplest method for me.

So with the new SD will I be able to opt for Royal Mail 48 hours tracked service , have collect from home (Royal Mail bring the label) and pay £3.39 (I offer free postage)?
This is how I send 90% of what I sell and it works well.
If I can’t do above then I will cancel all my current listings.
Sales have gone dead anyway since the 4% (+75p) buyers tax was added.
I will sell what I have left via Facebook groups, local auctions and bullion dealers (to sell my remaining gold coins).
Sad that after 21 years I’m calling it a day for buying and selling on eBay.
If eBay don’t want me as private seller, then I’m definitely not buying on the platform.

You can't guarantee those options because eBay can override your settings.
If you deselect Evri all that really happens is your buyer gets the highest tariff rate.
& eBay can still use Evri anyway.
31-03-2025 12:08 PM
Eh? How can Evri still be used if you specify for them not to be a delivery option?
31-03-2025 12:10 PM
Well it would have been nice for eBay to give us a heads up over the weekend as I would have listed for a week last night. RIP eBay indeed...

Read their announcements/terms and conditions.
When they said that sellers could choose they left themselves a backdoor where they can override your choice.
The choice was an empty promise and it's a trap because the only thing it really accomplishes is that the buyer ends up paying the highest tariff rate.

You’ll still be able to choose the carriers by going to Postage Preferences in your account settings. We recommend enabling ALL carriers for the most competitive postage rates.
All carriers? Just two!!!
On the other selling site they have SIX to choose from.
Plus the buyer chooses from your postage preferences. You are just sent a label/code of their choosing.
On eBay I use YODEL very often, as it's the cheapest tracked. They are not an option.

What's your take on this as a vinyl seller (try not to use expletives!)? Crazy if (as I understand) Special Delivery isn't an option anymore.
31-03-2025 12:29 PM
If simple delivery only covers items up to 20kg, there must remain an option to select custom postage, which the seller is in control of for items above that weight. What's to stop sellers selecting that for items that are, in reality, lighter, then just offering "free postage" and sending it by their own choice of carrier? The buyer won't care as they aren't paying the costs and will just be happy to receive the item.

What about disabled people like me who have royal mail collect from my door and bring a label with them because I don't have a printer. I can't get out to post my items. Do they not consider these things before they make changes. I'm so unhappy about this, eBay has become just like Vinted and I hate Vinted fur selling.

I just had a short chat with ebay customer services (you have to navigate all the auto replies first). I'm probably peeing in the wind but wanted to let them know I wasn't happy. The main reply I got was this:
'I assure you that we constantly work on improving member’s experience when it comes to managing selling activities on our site. Thank you for sharing your sentiments with us. We will definitely share it with our product development team.'
i suggest everyone contact customer services and make their voice heard. It only takes a few minutes.
31-03-2025 1:03 PM
How does that work if you choose Royal Mail how can eBay force you to go with Evri?
31-03-2025 1:05 PM
They really don't care - haven'tthey have been flooded with calls about the BPF - no change there.....
31-03-2025 1:06 PM
Read their terms and conditions. As soon as they gave sellers a choice they also left themselves a backdoor to override those choices if they want.
It's written in black and white.
That doesn't mean they will use Evri every time, but it does mean they can, regardless to what you choose.
31-03-2025 1:08 PM
Unfortunately there's a well deserved saying: you can tell when customer service are lying, their lips move.
31-03-2025 1:10 PM
Its in their terms, they can override our choice, even if its one we have de-selected. That's just the way they've got it set up, of course to their benefit, greedy bleepers.
31-03-2025 1:11 PM
I use RM collection is that part of simple delivery
31-03-2025 1:13 PM
I used to use EVRI, but now it's pot luck if they collect. Many items I sell are oversize, and need specialist carriers, those that are not, I will just mark as oversize, and either include postage in item price, or price postage as I do now (under the oversize category). I am happy for EBAY to provide me with a postage label, if they can for a 25 kg item, for £3 😀.
I suppose that it passes responsibility for postage to EBAY. The 48hr tracked RM is only advisory, often it can take a week.
I will refer any complaints to EBAY CS, as I will tell buyer , sellers do not arrange postage anymore.
31-03-2025 1:14 PM
if i find they have changed the selling method on an item i will just cancel. Am leaving anyway when it comes in so no bothered if stats go down.

Well that's the straw I've been waiting for, ending my listings on 6th April. Really frustrating as I'd made really good headway into selling off my music collection in the last 7-8 months, but still have over half to go. Now no idea where to turn to try and shift as much that is left as possible.
