An ebay rep person posted the link below for 'help' with postage related problems and the web link address specifies 'Packlink' in the address so I am thinking ebay are still partnering with an outright scamming company.
As this has been posted during the Simple Delivery roll-out it is possible that Packlink were not just involved in the trial but will be involved in Simple Delivery proper.

Packlink's involvement was likely due to the item being ineligible for Simple Delivery due to it's size.

Tbf I love packlink. As long as u make sure ur weight and dimensions are absolutely correct or over what ur package is, u dont get many issues. If items get damaged or lost, they cough up compensation with evri at least. Just obv if u send something 150g and u put 100g on it (even tho it says up to 1kg) u will get a fine.
Dealing with packlink for an evri claim is painless. Try dealing with Evri direct and good luck.

Only people have been getting fines from them for massively less weight than what packlink said their package was !

If you Google eBay simple delivery it tells you it's powered by packlink.

You are looking at an incorrect AI response to the question.
eBay delivery is powered by Packlink (a parcel broker). Packlink are only involved if a business seller or a private seller purchases a non-Royal Mail service via eBay. Where private sellers are concerned this is now only possible if the item is ineligible for Simple Delivery.
Simple Delivery does not involve Packlink as eBay has their own direct contracts with Royal Mail and Evri for this service. Therefore there is no third-party broker involved.

What about this eBay link that isn't an AI response " General conditions of packlink's services - eBay simple delivery" .
