Well finally after changing the format of their selling platform it seems every couple of weeks you have come up with the ultimate level of stupidity with this latest total ridiculous set of changes. Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item they have sold who ever dreamt up this idea much be so far from reality as needing to push every part time seller off the site. I knew when they came up with the idea of free selling it wouldn’t be long before the idiots that run eBay came up with totally and ridiculous idea to claw back the money they have lost the whole senior management team at EBay must seat round a table all wearing clown costumes saying what is the most stupid idea we can come with to really get rid of half of our customers and the biggest clown wins with this idea and all the other yes people follow. Well I had started selling a few bits again but never again and will not be using EBay again to sell anything it has become a total joke of a company I hope your poor and flawed decisions finally catch up with this once great place to buy and sell has become a total joke.

A QUESTION while this current item is paid for and payment pending, can the buyer change his mind and retract his payment ???.
If the question is referring to the unresponsive to emails customer you forgot to get a QR code from, you should hope they change their mind. That proves collection by default. If they're smart/sneaky/devious, they say nothing and then you may lose item and money.
AND just a point to ponder, I sold a large item about 5 months ago, all paid for but as of yet still to be collected, I get favourable responses from the buyer, but as of yet to be collected, it is large and in the way .....
Never heard of anything like that before. I wonder if there's any legislation for it too.

I would give them a deadline to collect the item or you will have to cancel and refund, 5 months is just madness, you aren't a storage warehouse.
Just to add I know you cannot cancel and refund via eBay after 5 months so you would have to refund outside of eBay, which you would need to discuss with the buyer.

The pending paid for is reference to a recent sale and my question was 'A buyer has paid for an item and the payment is marked as PENDING which means currently I have not received payment.
The item is collection, collection as of yet has not been made, do I only get paid only when he collects ?? could he on collection OR at any time change his mind and secure a refund from Ebay ??.

In answer to your questions YES

Within the standard not as described type parameters, yes, of course.
If you're a business seller then change if mind refunds are a thing too.
& then there's always chargeback which eBay can't really stop unless you have cast iron proof that the buyer is lying.
That's with all sales, not just collection.

[sigh] This is the kind of human dialogue that AI is going to have to figure out how to cope with. Or just turn on Skynet and get rid of us.
Or maybe your reply was intentional? Could have used an emoji to alert those of us who can be rather literal minded at times?

I could not agree with you more. I'm not waiting that long to be paid for an item I have sold and have sent, no other sensible selling system does this, it is ludicrous. Furthermore, I think it's going to encourage bad actors on the platform are claiming they haven't received it even my tracking says they have, or simply saying the item is not as described in someway. I don't think I've ever witnessed a worse decision by a commercial organisation. One possibility I think is that eBay has decided to focus his efforts on being a platform for business sales only, and they've actually lost interest in individuals selling goods. It's the only rational explanation I think of what they've done.

They could do that before the changes.

Or they are trying to deter business sellers using private accounts to sell their brand new goods in multiples and avoiding eBay fees.

Either way, it’s irrelevant. What IS 100% CERTAIN, is that this IS discouraging private sellers. Reddit and other platforms are swamped with comments saying this.
I myself have NOT listed a graphics card and I likely won’t sell anything on eBay now as there are other options and hordes of people feel the same.

krafty-kreations views are relevant and i agree with them.
I am still selling and am NOT a "bored troll not an Ebay stooge"
For the record i think the boards are getting out of control with hostile baiting comments and conspiracy theories 😞 Its all getting rather boring.

Hello 1956glyn.
Several comments you perhaps can label stirrers, trolls or whatever, but you cannot get away from the multi million people who use Ebay world wide, it went from strength to strength over the years, it had no competition and then it started to get greedy, complicated, difficult to navigate if you needed help or assistance, to highlight one recent good period would be the SHORT period leading up to this putting a hold on funds until a buyer having taken your item decides to OR not to give you the green light, alternatively proof of delivery is confirmed which is always contenscious given the horrendous tales of various courier companies devious actions, to mention just one, door bell footage of goods thrown over gates.
I am not a prolific seller on Ebay despite joining 20 years ago, however from the offset I experienced a costly event despite taking all the precautions being a beginner, from extreme packaging, clear labelling, insuring, signed for and selecting at the time the national postal company and yet despite being signed for I was met with 'He!' hadn't signed for it, tooing and frooing of correspondence I lost out to the tune of three hundred pounds, I will state I have met some wonderful people through transactions who far outweigh the bad one's, but in monetary terms it knocks the cream off the coffee.

sunshinedoir67 being the worse culprit ! selling 100s of new items on a private account.

What is interesting is that at no point have they offered any explanation for their account status. Presumably because there isn't one. Instead they resort to attack.

There was only 2 questions in the comment the answer to both is yes 🙄 ( an emoji for you )

but they have been silent recently!

there you go again - have you not heard the expression 'let sleeping dogs lie'. Your feedback will be scrutinised now!!!

Or Ron the great defender will come out for an encore again.
Brand new user that popped out of thin *bleep*, I mean air, to defend all things sunny.
A cynic might wonder if it's a bestie or maybe that it's shiny in a different guise.
05-03-2025 11:22 AM
Have you seen what they are selling? I have no problem with my feedback being scrutinised, just fed up with OP coming to these pages, complaining about Ebay and being one of the main culprits and undercutting business sellers.
Maybe OP has just inherited 100s of blood pressure monitors, teeth whiting sets, vitamin tabs ect, so if they have i do apologise.
05-03-2025 11:29 AM
The OP (as in the opening poster) isn't selling anything, unlike the poster whose user name starts with S.

"Nobody is going to wait what could be weeks to be paid for a item"
I don't mind waiting, don't have cashflow problems, eBay is not my life. What I make as a private seller goes directly towards other ebayers listings. Basically sell what I don't need, buy what I need with the proceeeds.
However this has not become possible anymore, as I'm just not selling anything. My wife informs me that nobody even uses ebay anymore, that it's thought of as antiquated and behind the times but I honestly hadn't noticed any significant shift in spending habits until around the time they made clothes free to sell. All the customs gone, it's just gone!
