Hi all
i have a few larger items I’m selling, like a set of 4 chairs, a junior bed, large wooden storage box, etc.. Anyway, I listed these items as collection only with no probs. Few items like the fridge, washing machine, etc have gone already. However when unsold, EBay is relisting with ‘postage only’ instead…
In noticing this (and it’s been a few times now) I’ve gone in and amended…
but it still keeps happening.
i’ve literally just home on now to revise the toy box listing (has a few days left to run yet on listing) from postage only to collection only, and save…
Yet when I go back to check-it’s showing postage only…
What the hell’s going on here?!?! Does anyone know?
It already causes me a misunderstanding on a wooden tallboy-as EBay had amended to postage only-and when the item sold-the guy was waiting for me to post….
Apologised and sale was cancelled.
But seriously, this is getting frustrating now…..

I noticed that Simple Delivery was on a couple of my collection only items. I'm 90% sure that wasn't my error but I guess it is possible.
Thankfully I spotted it before getting into a difficult situation with a remote buyer.
I think it's more likely an error in how ebay are 'violating' people's listings to apply unwanted SD.

Hi,
1. You can Add For Collection only by setting up a Postage policy:
Go to your listing page - On the left hand side of page, 'Select Business Policies' (this can be use by Private & Business Sellers).
- On right-hand side of page that comes up - Select 'Create Policy', the drop down menu Select 'Postage'
- On the next page - fill in the Policy name e.g For Collection only.
- Roll down page to Delivery section - drop down menu - select 'No postage collection in person only'.
Exclude any locations, if you want to.
Press Save - that is the Postage Policy Set Up.
2. On your listings Management page or creating a new listing.
- Roll down page to 'Delivery Details' & Press on Box saying 'Postage Policy'. The Postage Policy you Created will come up 'for Collection only'.
That is the Delivery/Collection section complete, click on the box at the bottom to save.

Hi
I use quite a few postage policies & saves me time.
eBay seems to make changes all the time now.

It's as if eBay WANTS to drive away private sellers 🙂
True or not, it certainly feels as if eBay is inflicting problems and inconvenience on private sellers so as to drive them off site en masse (which happens also to increase eBay income) e.g. long payment holds for private sellers, BPF confusing or repelling buyers who buy from private sellers, SD compelling one-size-fits-all for private sellers...

Yes I’m getting the same thing. Whether I end and relist certain items or create a new listing. I absolutely make sure that collection only is selected then as soon as I refresh the listing it shows postage. I’m selling an item that weighs about 20kg and it offers postage for about £2.xx ish. This is a major error with eBay. What’s going on?!?!

You are correct .
I have found that every time you edit or relist a collection only listing it switches to postage and many times it also activates the make offers box even when it's strictly a fixed price buy it now so you have to keep on your toes..

The annoying default to postage might be deliberate, perhaps part of what seems to be a tacit and prolonged campaign to drive away private sellers in numbers and/or get conversions to business accounts.

I’ve found trying a few things this morning that for large items if you end listing and then relist it but adjust the size of the package in postage options to the maximum and select courier option (there’s no auto-populated price for that), and THEN select local collection only it doesn’t default back to a postage option. Did mine a couple of hours ago and keep checking back but listing now only shows collection option. Maybe try that or something similar and see how you go.

Thanks so much for posting this - you've convinced me I'm not going mad! I had several bits of furniture listed as 'collection only'. Yesterday I got a message from another eBayer saying the postage on one of my items seemed very low. I looked and saw the listing was suddenly & mysteriously offering postage - so assumed I'd made a mistake when relisting. I checked my other items and they all said 'collection only'. Then today, 10 minutes before the auction on one of them ended, I saw it too had been switched to the postage option. I'll now have to wrap & lug two shelf units to the Evri collection point (and one of them sold for 99p!) or else upset two people who bought them in good faith. It's outrageous we're not in control of our own sales. If eBay is trying to drive away private sellers, they've just had a 100% success rate with this one.

That's what I did, and I completely agree it's always been OK in the past - but this week eBay changed two of my listings from collection to delivery without telling me!

AAh yes they are still 'violating' listings despite publicly admitting that the rollout needs to take longer to accommodate necessary aspects like combined postage they just can't help themselves from taking the money in the meantime even if they are getting things wrong and creating problems for people.
There is no justification for changing collection-only listings to SD it's been going on for weeks now.
Are people supposed to just accept this is collateral damage from ebay's desperate greed?
It makes no sense they are converting account/listings slower because SD's not right yet.
They should have been converting people's account/listings back until SD is fit for purpose.
Can you still manually change them back or have they taken that from you too?
