When simple delivery is made mandatory for private sellers will the process be as follows:
* Purchasing buyer chooses the postage option they want i.e. Royal Mail or EVRI
* Buyer completes checkout, buying the postage from ebay
* Ebay sends the postage label to the private seller
What if a private seller does not have a printer to print the label that ebay sends them?

You don’t need a printer or a smart phone to use simple delivery.

If enough sellers leave it will affect both buyers and Ebay alike. Ebay will not survive without both, and it would not be the first big company to make this mistake.

you do know that many people don't even live close to a "normal" evri drop off place, let alone a 24/7 drop box?

yes you do. well a lot of people do. if ebay can make it possible for the postie to bring a label (like you can if buying directly from RM) that would help. But it's also S|O expensive to send via Simple Delivery especially if you can't drop off to Evri

So where sellers previously needed - a pen - they now need:
Way to go on consuming resources, including lots of rare earth minerals and petrochemicals, ebay! 😀
All that to replace a humble marker or ballpoint pen.
(And, yes, some stamps, but those used to at least be potentially collectable to donate to foreign collectors etc., and of historic relevance, so their replacement with hideous toxic thermal transfer labels does not fill me with joy.)
I wonder what an environmental and CO2 impact assessment would be on the difference between stamps and a pen versus labels, across say 1000 items?

Why? Although i do not sell anywhere near that amount i would still not have a smart phone if i did. I have successfully managed to sell my items and all other manner of transactions just using my old brick one and my very basic computer!

sorry about that, did not realise that i was responding to a february thread (although i still agree with my comment!)

You can still use royal Mail collection with simple delivery - just go to RM and arrange, using the tracking number.

You will be sent a number code if you don't have a smart phone or printer ,I think it will be sent aswell as the QR code so you can use the code ,so if you don't have a smart phone or printer ,you can go to parcel drop off shop with the code and tap it into the label printing machine that will then print you a label and then you go to shop counter and they will scan parcel for you and print a receipt for you .Not all PO have machines to print a label so then it has to be Evri drop off shop but not everyone has a drop off shop close ,so then it means people are expected to drive to get to parcel shop so more pollution ,fuel costs ,wear and tear on vehicle and roads of course .

large letter is £2.70 or £2.74 if you exclude evri (because drop off is miles away). Both my mother and I did sell low value items before Christmas (and that means before buyer protection) for as low as £4.50 with the £2.70 tracked 48 large letter.
