When simple delivery is made mandatory for private sellers will the process be as follows:
* Purchasing buyer chooses the postage option they want i.e. Royal Mail or EVRI
* Buyer completes checkout, buying the postage from ebay
* Ebay sends the postage label to the private seller
What if a private seller does not have a printer to print the label that ebay sends them?

You will lose the additional cover if you use your own label
Yes that is what ebay are stating, however if you use your own preferred postal service ( as many have been doing for eternity 😉 ) it does not negate their ( the postal service you have chosen) " cover."

Very true and it does not negate the standard seller protections - just the enhanced protection for SD - SD lost or damaged are covered by ebay even if the carrier does not provide cover -

'If you decide not to use your Simple Delivery label, you don't need to void the unused label.'
That's the icing on the cake. Get both buyer AND seller to pay for postage. It's brilliant!
The cynic in me wonders if Ebay may be collecting all seller preferences so they can offer the buyer the very same courier that a seller will actively avoid?

Generally, if a shipping label is not used within x days it is automatically voided and any payment refunded. That is what I would expect to happen here.

I guess the proof will be if there is a way to void the SD label.
Don't forget the seller didn't pay for it so they won't be looking for a credit anyway.

Of course, if a seller did buy a postage label through Ebay (using the blue get label button) and it just happened to be for the same transaction that a buyer had already paid for a label, it might just be possible for the voided buyer's refund to be dropped in the kitty for a seller to make use of?
Admittedly, I'm kind of talking 'ideal world' here, so a million miles from the solution Ebay may come up with.
Ebay will most likely just pocket the money for the original one. I can't see an obvious means by which a refund for a voided postage label will ever find its way back to the buyer. 😉

The postage bought via SD will have tracking, so if it isn't used by the seller it will show as undelivered, so wouldn't the buyer then be able to claim 'not received' and get a refund that way?

A seller could choose tracked or delivery confirmation only and still be covered or untracked and use the receipt code and be covered or totally unscanned and trust the buyer - most buyers are honest and decent - you only hear about the few bad ones !
What totally unscanned would do is delay payment for 14 days !

Stop agreeing with people !
It makes these posts much less interesting !

"wouldn't the buyer then be able to claim 'not received' and get a refund that way"
Good point. Yes, a buyer probably would. Except with SD they'd have to go via Ebay as they're the ones supposedly 'managing' the whole delivery process. And therefore sorting it all out.
Hmm, I think we've stumbled into 'ideal world' territory again. 😁

👍😂🤣

All the seller would have to do is enter there own 'tracking number' this overides the SD tracking code - job done !

I hope you're right. But if there's one thing we DO know about Simple Delivery it's that it definitely won't be simple.

Do we know that a private seller could over-ride the buyer to ebay bought postage label tracking code and enter our own?

"If ebay are monitoring these boards..."
I just hope a grown-up comes back into the office soon and sorts this utter mess out.

Officially they don't read the posts on this forum but with all the sh*t hitting the fan with their greed influenced changes who knows.
Recently I have witnessed a member of ebay staff actually replying to random peoples posts, which seems strange so not sure if they are coming here occasionally to try to clean up a bit of their mess.

That'll be Marco ; he sticks his head in a couple of times a week and helps, if he can, with technicalities and passing technical problems to the relevant dept.
He doesn't get involved in opinions or arguments, and we have no idea if he ever takes away the general 'temperature' of the forums and passes it on to the big guns.
And, if he did, we don't know if they'd ever take the blindest bit of notice of what we think....

When can this be applied as i dont see anywhere to opt into this.
can i apply this to existing listings or is it for new listings.
all my items are low priced..I cannot see any option to print, or opt in when i sell a item..
