In this day and age you don't necessarily need a printer, but do need a phone or tablet that you can take to the Post Office/courier drop off to show them to get the label printed.
If you buy an item from any online selling site and need to return it you'll need access to a printer or a phone/tablet.
It's not eBay discriminating to those without tech, it's simply modern life.

Is there no option to select "bring my label" when arranging a collection with Simple Delivery?
Seems necessary.
01-04-2025 11:15 AM
Thats not entirely true. I buy from many sites where the return label comes with the package should it be needed [ YOOX is a good example ] I have survived perfectly without a printer or phone since the inception of the internet. I use laptop only. Nothing more 'simple' than writing an address on a package and taking it to the Post Office for sending ! Unless of course you are looking to make money from the postage by block buying from the couriers.

Nope, this is one of the many issues with simple delivery, you can't get Royal Mail to bring the label.

Me too, there's always the exceptions to the norm, but most sites require you to have access to print a label.

Discrimination really you can only discriminant against at a protected characteristic age, disability, sex religion for example, the very simple remedy is you but a printer they are extremely cheap these days some cheaper than a good takeaway meal for 4,
Victimisation is the term for this, treating one or a few less favourably than the majority or others, as in those with printers the majority than those without printers the minority, but this will hardly stand up in court as this is the only place it will be resolved. So the only 2 answers are don't use ebay or buy a printer.
I am welcome to a third solution but i can't see one.
Sorry it is probably not want you want to hear.

There is absolutely nothing normal about this site. It is becoming part of a horror movie

I certainly won't be buying a printer to help ebay's latest grift.

It's funny you should say that, because I've always referred to eBay as a 'Frankenstein' site - not in a nasty or bad way, it's just that the platform was designed so many decades ago, pre app age and subsequent app sites like Vinted and Depop, and keeps having bits added to it, removed and tweaked, and it must be incredibly hard work for the software team trying to keep up, but the mistake is in trying to be like the app sites.
I can see that eBay needed to make the clothing category free of final value fees because it's just not possible to compete with Vinted on Depop on that front, but it's brand and USP are fast becoming eroded.

Like so many things ebay it seems this was rushed out without proper thought then. I heard for a long time Simple Delivery didn't even include an option for collection.
I assume they will fix this but it seems to me the entire feature should not have been launched without necessary parts like this and ideally - given many people have no problem posting orders - should be entirely optional to use.

Modern life is “I AS AN INDIVIDUAL” do as I wish. Do not discriminate against those that have neither smart-phone or printer.

So it is modern life that discriminates against those of us who don't have a Tablet or Smartphone. You know its always the same, those who use the latest tech and those who don't. Those who do point the finger at those who don't and say get real, get with the flow, move with the times...seems unfair but then you don't get any sympathy votes if you don't.

If you consider this to be some kind of personal discrimination then you could go on forever.
Good example - Asda's customer rewards system. It requires a smartphone, there's no plastic card or workaround. Given that Asda have the most likely demographic to not hold a smart phone, you can claim that action is discriminatory.
Bottom line is, if you don't have the necessary device to be able to use eBay then you simply cannot use eBay.

Royal Mail offer the bring my label service eBay have taken it away - how is that progress. Many people don't have printers and Royal Mail service was very handy indeed.
02-04-2025 11:30 AM
Sorry, it is not simply modern life. Simple delivery is taking away a service that is currently available online. Royal Mail, as part of modern life, offer to bring the label and collect your parcel from your doorstep when you buy a postage label on their website. eBay have taken this option away.

So..let's get this straight. Ebay says this is helping sellers. This is what I potentially have to do extra now to sell:
1. Buy a printer, ink and lables for the postage lables
2. Spend ages working out weights and sizes of the parcel, possibly overpaying due to no small parcel option etc..
3. Take the parcel to a collection point miles away if ebay decides its Evri
What I will actually be doing is:
1. Closing down all my listings and selling elsewhere

You can specify that you only want to use Royal Mail, I have because dropping off with Evri is harder.
But yes there is still no option for them to bring the label unless you purchase directly from Royal Mail which eBay is no longer allowing.

Do you drive a car or are you still supporting your local Farrier for your transport needs?
Did you send this message via the internet and a computer or did you send a telegram?
Do you use a remote control to change channels on your TV or still get up and push a button?
Sadly technology is always shifting, some is easier to keep up with that others, but you do have to adapt or stop using it if you can't even if that change isn't always for the better.

I totally agree with you, and to think that Ebay thinks this is Simpler for sellers and actually places Simple in it's name, really does take the biscuit !!
I can't think of one single good reason to use it ever, so I did the same thing as you. I'll wait until middle of May 2025 to see if they have had a serious rethink of making this pathetic system Mandatory, but if they stick their guns, then off to Discogs (and others) I go with my Vinyl records and everything else I always have advertised/sold through Ebay since 2003 >>
