DROP IN SALES SINCE NEW BUYER PROTECTION 4TH FEB 2025

Has anyone else noticed lack of sales since the buyer protection update 4th february 2025. I used to sell quite a lot and virtually sold nothing since 4th Feb. Can anyone else relate to this and what can we do?

Neither. I do free postage because I find it easier to, and some people prefer free postage. And I haven’t had to do any refunds!

You may offer the buyer free postage but YOU have to pay for it , well you did untill Simple Delivery goes full on!

Then I am at a total loss as to where your money went/is! 😒

But, frankly, I'm not that suprised that CS have no idea either; I am constantly amazed that such levels of ignorance and ..um...'economy with the truth' ,  seem to be acceptable in a Global business 😮

Yes, I know that!
But I pay for it at the Post Office, not on eBay.
I want to support my local Post Office, and it’s a shop too, which is very handy for me.

I agree with everything you have mentioned!. I think it's time to be brave and try a new selling platform.

Trouble is, the other selling sites are much smaller, and I am not using Facebook!

I commented here a couple of weeks ago when the thread was started agreeing with thr OP on slow sales.

At this point my sales have completely halted, I haven't had a single sale in two days where I used to have at least a few a day and as many as 10.

In the weeks since eBay's changes, most of my sales have been very low value items and mostly stuff sent abroad via GSP.

eBay has completely tanked their own ecosystem. Most of my buyers were collectors who also sold on the platform, if any of them are like me then they sell so they can buy and keep collecting. eBay complicating this and withholding money, sometimes for two weeks has sucked many collector's spare cash up and halted buying and selling. Absolutely baffling, they should have never done away with fees, just lowered them.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Nobody's buying/selling because eBay is holding all our money

5-6 inintal days slipage , is all there should be.. once that has occured your just offset by a few days,

If your making desciosn of food or trading card and banking on a payment then honestly review your priority.

yes I totally relate to this,Idon't like the new protection rate at all! My sales have dropped also. The fault lies with buyers saying they haven't recieved the item's when they have.In my opion haveing "proof of postage" should be enough proof that you have sent the item.So the fault would lie with the post office or courer why should the buyers be charged more, and sellers have thier prices increased for a few untruthful peple. Also the post office and couriers are takeing photos at the door that surely proves the goods have been deliverd. If the item is faulty or not as seller describes, sellers have a right within the law to return the item for a full refund. So why is it needed.

So you think you should not have to refund if you can prove you sent it? Without proof of delivery you have no idea if the buyer has received it or not so they may be telling the truth. There are no consumer rights buying from private sellers so buyers have very little rights.

I'm losing money here but I received notification today that I am a Top Rated Seller but I don't get the badge because I don't offer FREE POSTAGE. Blow that for a game of soldiers.

And eBay charges sellers 10% of the BPF because they have included it as part of the final auction selling price on which we pay 10%. Ebay can do exactly as they please. I want to be paid for all my photos they have licensed to Worthpoint which took me thousands of hours to create.

Actually, I don't think the BPF applies to me as I am a business seller so the arithmetic in my rant is only for private sellers' to consider.

I actually can't work out how your rant applies to private sellers but someone gave you a 'helpful' anyway!

Yes I have not sold anything for two weeks even though on most of my items I have free p&p, so even if I have free listings etc I am having to cut prices

I've noticed a difference. I'm just a private seller, selling some of my own things, turning my wardrobe over / clothes that no longer fit or suit me ect.  I only ever sell things I'd be happy to receive myself and at a good price and have bumbled along rather well thus far. Things I've listed since the buyer protection fee came in have not sold and I've got less views. It could be cooincidence but I haven't done anything different. I've put the prices on really quite low as well 😞

I've done ok as a private seller on eBay just selling on a few of my own things (mainly clothing) but i've mentioned elsewhere in the thread, things seem to have come to a standstill since the new buyer fees were introduced.

Looking at a number of different categories using terapeak daScreenshot from 2025-03-01 19-41-29.pngta shows no obvious drop off - above is for search term 'clothes' but numerous other searches show same structure
