Has anyone else noticed lack of sales since the buyer protection update 4th february 2025. I used to sell quite a lot and virtually sold nothing since 4th Feb. Can anyone else relate to this and what can we do?

..... I wonder if they truly do understand their "customers?" .....
Not any more - it's just the same with any very large Business or Corporation - we're all now just consumers.
Customers are people.
Consumers are just numbers.

So sorry to hear of your health challenges and can have understanding how things can affect... Have a look at other " areas" to see if any are more suitable...and wish you every success in your " moving on"...shame really as I do think eBay are " banking" on those who are long standing " customers" to stay whatever the changes, but they are being " short sighted" by not taking into account those who are unable to continue due to the new " services" and/or " policies"...as they simply are not feasible.

If eBay wanted to offer a business marketplace they would have done better to have a separate platform and leave the private sellers alone with the platform as intended...
Its been tried before and didn't work and I don't see it working now. It won't stop business sellers using private accounts. It would just make it worse if that's at all possible. I was a private seller at the start of my time on ebay in 2003 and have watched the changes over the years. Private and business sellers will have different views as to where ebay has gone wrong. Probably the only thing we may definitely agree on is that it has gone wrong.

Certainly feels that way...on many levels.

Who tried that? eBay? or another marketplace?
Oh yes... definitely in agreement that it has " all gone wrong"...

I am really not surprised that sales are down. I'm an occasional private seller and wasn't overly bothered about the BPF to begin with (though my last 2 sales seemed much slower than I expected. I reduced costs to shift the things eventually). But when I began buying after Feb 4th, (I buy more than I sell) I noticed the additional fees, and it has put me right off. I have bought a few small items from other private sellers and the total costs were not as I expected. it all feels un-transparent. So, i'll buy less basically. I have even deleted my 'saved searches'. Like others I have been looking at the many alternatives to Ebay. I wish all sellers good luck! I hope Ebay fix the mess they created.

Oh, and Ebay, in their wisdom, just gave me a '10th Anniversary Badge' for posting that last comment - if they had bothered to check they would see I have been a member since 7 October 1998. Probably before some of them were born!
26-02-2025 8:41 PM
Thank you, that's really kind. I hope things work out for your selling. It might just need more time and perhaps Ebay might reverse their decisions on their services and policies.

It was ebay and was called something like ebay Express as I remember.

Have no fear. The other 16 years are 'pending' and will be credited to your account in due course.😁

Yes, the seller protection fee has caused a major issue. I have noticed a BIG drop in sales. My product prices now look less appealing to the public. I have tried to lower my prices but realised I would only put myself out of pocket!?. I am now considering to just call it a day and leave ebay.

Yep; they want you to change to being a business seller. That's one of the reasons why they're making your life awkward.
(Along with all the other reasons about squeezing every available penny out of every available seller, that is!)

I disagree to eBay updates from 04.02.25 and 16.02.25
I’ve been long time eBay seller and buyer.
I don’t agree eBay to hold my money until tracking number show the item is delivered. Many times tracking number doesn’t show it’s delivered, but the customer leaving positive feedback, meaning it’s delivered. I see the same as buyer – I bought expensive item and received it 4 days later. Three months later I received the tracking number and 2 months after still doesn’t show it’s delivered.
So, if the tracking number never show the item is delivered, but the customer received it, I’ll never see my money, meaning eBay will steal them from me.
I don’t agree eBay stealing my money because of post service software glitches or couriers in their rush forgetting to mark it as delivered.
I don’t agree to added buyer protection (which already exist) covering nothing different than before, but raising the prices, making them not attractive to the buyers anymore.
EBay might be one of the online market leaders, but it’s not the only one. There is many alternative platforms and now I’m moving to some of them.
I used to have good experience so far with eBay, but it’s time to leave.
If they revoke their unfair updates and never do such things again, I might return … until then BYE eBay.

If the tracking number never gets updated to 'delivered', you *will* get your money..... you just have to wait 14 days for it.
(ebay aren't stealing your money .... they're just holding it hostage for 2 weeks!)

With the spread out nature of receiving my funds due to ebay earning interest on my money first, I have created a spreadsheet to keep track and make sure I am receiving all the funds from ebay (no I don't trust them).
This is the third (!) spreadsheet I've needed to create due to ebay's recent changes.

'but they just said it’s fees!'
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Eh?? The whole point of this entire flamin' palaver is that there are supposed to be *no fees* !
Have you used some of the money for buying postages ?( if you made other sales *after* the ones that you're waiting to be paid for? ) Or did you have to do a refund for something?
I think they would both have come out of your 'balance', if there was enough in there to cover it..
