Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I seem to have automatically qualified as a top Rated Seller but none of my listings qualify at the moment.  They all have free postage and 14 day returns, but I find the wording on the seller performance page really confusing:

"As a Top Rated Seller, you get a badge on your listings when you offer delivery services that support tracking on items that cost more than £20, a free delivery option that delivers within 3 days, an express delivery option that delivers within 2 days and costs no more than £10, and a 30-day return policy."

How can I make my listings qualify?  Do I have to nix the 14 day returns and change to 30?  I despatch same or next day and send everything tracked 48 and only a very few cheaper products at regular 2nd class large letter but all listings are marked as free delivery in 2-3 days.  If I offer the express delivery option on only my expensive listings will ONLY those show a top rated seller badge, and other listings without this option won't have the badge or get a listings boost?  I just find it all super confusing.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

It comes off the individual order at the time of processing and shows under the transaction fees section of the relevant order.

I've attached screenshot of what it looks like in mobile app.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Hi - ive been a 'Top Rated Seller' for years , because i wont jump thru hoops on several principles, i show as

'Performance dashboard it says none of my listings qualify' the same as you - so i get the rating, but no benefits,

its up to you whether you oblige ebay , but i seem to recall the incoming changes may nullify any benefits that were available to the title.

Something to do with the postage options on Simple Postage, i believe, a Mentor  with more interest than I could answer more maybe.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

As far as I know I've done everything I should have to the listings I want the rated seller bade on but nope, still no qualifying listings 😞  If they did a listings filter showing the products that don't qualifying and specifying the reason WHY then i could go thru them and correct them but no, I'm sat here wondering *bleep* I have to do to fix them.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I'm not sure there is a way of filtering them which is a real pain.  Or some sort of filter that flags up listings with errors that stop it qualifying for premium status.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I've now added T24 as well as special delivery and I await to see if the zero qualified listings will change.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I've added T24 and SD onto my postage policies now but when I view my listings I don't see any of those options and I can't add my own products to my caat to see if it's a cart-level thing.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

What is your dispatch time? @fuzzbuttfabrics  Will usually dispatch within 1 working day of receiving cleared payment.

On ours it is

Will usually dispatch within same working day. Expected dispatch time may vary and is based on seller's order cut-off time.

On your listing it states the below, it should be the same day not 1 working day, change the setting below in your policy.

Change to the below.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I can now see the SD option on the listings I've looked at, so you're OK on that.

However, as @game_raid has said, you must change your despatch window to 'Same Day' to qualify for the Premium badge.  Alternatively, you can leave it as 'next day' and change the freepost option to T24 or 1st Class - which means a chunk out of your margin.

Which listings as I've  checked a few and can't see a badge, this is looking on my laptop not a mobile phone.  Is the Premium badge different from the Top Rated Seller badge?

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Unless you sell a lot of items daily, the 10% discount isn't worth the hassle in my opinion. Plus the EDD's fiasco, untracked post, buyers not leaving feedback can make you lose the TRS quite easily.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

To get the Premium badge, change your Postage Policy Preference to 'Same Working Day'.  The drop down is at the bottom of the Postage Policy window:

Delivery 01.png

When this data has been changed, it should trigger the blue 'Premium' badge as you appear to have all other necessary markers in place.  However, I can't remember whether this is immediate or after your next evaluation - I think it's likely to be the latter, and the 1% discount will kick in at the same time.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I've set my business hours to be 8am despatch for same working day for most days, and later on a fri and saturday but if I change the settings above to same working day but people order AFTER my business hours cut-off time, am I at risk of orders being marked late delivery if ebay deems the package hasn't arrived on time depending on the tracking?

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

No, this means that their orders will need to be shipped before 8am the next day on any orders received after your daily order cut off time.

The order will show the next days date when it needs to be dispatched by so no you won't get a late defect.

This is the whole point of having an order cutoff time so any orders after the time set don't need to be dispatched the same day.

We set ours 1 hour before our collection any orders we receive after more often than not get shipped the same day which gives the buyer an earlier than expected delivery.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Each order will have a 'Despatch By' date, determined by the cut-off time.  For example, any order that arrives between 8.00am on Monday and 7.59am on Tuesday will have a 'despatch by' of Tuesday.  These orders must be scanned as despatched on Tuesday.  If you buy the label from eBay and get a carrier scan on Tuesday, then eBay's system will register that you despatched on time and any 'late' blobs that are generated will be wiped within a couple of weeks.

If eBay deems that the package is late based on the tracking, it doesn't matter as long as you despatched on time.  If the buyer raises an INR based on eBay's fantasy EDDs, then that does count against you.  However, the buyer can raise an INR irrespective of whether the despatch was set for same or next day, so this isn't a factor.

If you change to same day despatch, then you must be sure - in the example above - that you can get the carrier scan on Tuesday.  As you have another occupation, can you be sure that you can meet this expectation?  Orders that arrive - in the example - early on Monday evening could (if you have the energy) be packed and dropped off on Tuesday, but what about orders that arrive late evening on Monday or in the early hours of Tuesday?  Can you still meet the mandated despatch?

As an OP has said earlier in this thread, same day despatch can be a burden that's just not worth it for the 1% discount - and I don't think buyers give a stuff about the blue badge.  They buy on price, comforted by the happy embrace of eBay's MBG.

My online business is not full time, I have other commitments.  However, packing is always done in the morning, so night-owl orders aren't a problem.  Also, I'm not over-burdened by eBay orders - quite the reverse.  eBay used to be my main platform, but now I just have a few listings to service my regular customers and concentrate my online energies elsewhere.

You could try same day for a month, and see how you cope.  If it's too much stress, just change back to next day.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Hi,

I also seem to be struggling with this. From what I can gather, I have set up the postage policy  for the majority of listings correctly? Same day dispatch, 30 days return on all.

Re: Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

The postage policy must be OK because you have the Premium Service badge on your listings.
