Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I seem to have automatically qualified as a top Rated Seller but none of my listings qualify at the moment.  They all have free postage and 14 day returns, but I find the wording on the seller performance page really confusing:

"As a Top Rated Seller, you get a badge on your listings when you offer delivery services that support tracking on items that cost more than £20, a free delivery option that delivers within 3 days, an express delivery option that delivers within 2 days and costs no more than £10, and a 30-day return policy."

How can I make my listings qualify?  Do I have to nix the 14 day returns and change to 30?  I despatch same or next day and send everything tracked 48 and only a very few cheaper products at regular 2nd class large letter but all listings are marked as free delivery in 2-3 days.  If I offer the express delivery option on only my expensive listings will ONLY those show a top rated seller badge, and other listings without this option won't have the badge or get a listings boost?  I just find it all super confusing.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

You need to create a postage policy, or edit the one you have.

Under the 'Delivery' heading, set up your standard postage.  Mine is below - 2nd Class Freepost.

Under the Additional Services heading, set up your postage options - Express postage is set up here, along with any other enhanced services.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

If you already qualify why do you have to change anything?

Because on my Performance dashboard it says none of my listings qualify but doesn't say why......however I'm also marked as a top rated seller.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

To qualify, you must offer 30 day returns, so you need to change this.  Also, if you're despatching 2nd Class or T48, you must despatch same day - next day despatch doesn't qualify.

You can set your same day cut-off time to 7am or 8am, which gives you wriggle room.  However, eBay doesn't change the EDD at the cut-off time - for EDD purposes, it treats the order as being despatched same day.  However, I have an early cut-off time, and the EDD isn't a big problem.  However, I get very few orders from eBay and they're usually from regular customers that don't make a fuss at the first possible opportunity if the item hasn't arrived by the latest EDD.

If you can't despatch same day, or your buyers are the type that raise an INR at the first opportunity, then you're probably financially better off not having the badge.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Ah that's very useful thank you.  I've changed my despatch days as I work in an office two days and at home three days so my "in office" days are an 8am cut off, and at home days 3.30pm.  I have a 0.26% late delivery rate with 2 of 784 transactions and for a few years now I've sometimes marked an order as despatched but then posted it the next day, so I should be OK.    I'm still confused over the bit that says " an express delivery option that delivers within 2 days and costs no more than £10".

I'm still confused over the part that says " an express delivery option that delivers within 2 days and costs no more than £10" because all my listings are free.  So do I have to create a policy for this express delivery, and then somehow list it as an extra option?  I'm only really interested in Top rated seller status to get the discount on final valuation fees, every penny counts for me profit wise.

Thanks that's helpful, I had tried that but only got international options as I was clicking on the wrong part for international not domestic postage.  Now all set up so I assume it'll take a while for it to take effect on all the listings I've applied it to.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Postage changes usually take effect within minutes.

Just had a peek at some of your listings and can see free T48 with T24 as an extra option. T24 doesn't class as an express service with ebay. It needs to be Special Delivery or Parcelforce 24 or similar - or any Express options on this page https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/protection/ebay-premium-service

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Spotted another thing.

Dispatch time on your listings says 'will usually dispatch within 2 working days'.

To get 'premium listings' badge/perks T24 would need to dispatch next day. Or in your case - T48 - needs same day dispatch. As @the-nutwood-collection mentioned earlier, and exactly as I do with my 2nd class items, set an early 7 or 8am cut off for same day dispatch.

*The options for days to dispatch and cut off times may be on different ebay pages, within business policies and account settings - I remember when set mine I was faffing for a while.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Hi,

I am facing the same issue but when changed the dispatch time to "Same Working Day" with 8 AM cutoff worked on one listing & not on the others. Also, would anyone know how to filter "Premium Listings" in the listings tab to find the listings that are currently on premium and  not on premium.

Thanks

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

Just had a browse at some of your listings. A few that don't have premium service on them don't have an express delivery option, whereas most that do have DHL as express (some have DHL but not premium service and I can't see an obvious reason why).

Maybe go through your postage policies under business policies, one by one, and check for an express option?

Regarding the filter to see the qualifying listings... I don't think there is one. Ebay used to occasionally email saying 'x-number of listings could qualify, please update your policies', with a link to listings I think?

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I've got different despatch times depending on the day ....  for Mon-Thurs I've done 8am but I don't work my day job on Fridays so that's set to 3.30pm and Saturday is set to 9am.  So I guess that all days have to have the same cutoff time on them then?  This is so faffy good grief 😞  Still got zero qualifiying listings.  For the cheaper products I didn't set any express options as it's not worth it, they are just set to regular 2nd class large letter.

You need to have your settings like this, there has to be a 24 hr option and a 48 hr option, adding special delivery does nothing, so add the tracked 24, you can keep the special delivery if you wish it all depends on if buyers are using the service, personally we don't bother due to the cost to a buyer.

In regard to dispatch time it can be anything the same day, your can be set at 8am for each day and any orders after 8am on the friday the buyer will receive their item a bit quicker which helps with getting good feedback.

It doesn't matter if you don't think it's worth it on cheap items, it may be worth to a buyer because they will be paying for the service and you will still get the 10% FVF discount on all sales so better to have it set as it all adds up.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I notice your listings still show "Will usually dispatch within 2 working days of receiving cleared payment."

That needs to be changed to same day here  https://www.ebay.co.uk/bp/manage in the relevant postage policy

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I don't think the days must have identical cut-off times, it's a despatch speed of 'same day' that's needed for the badge.

Why have a different postage policy for the cheaper items?  If a buyer wants to pay for Special Delivery of a cheap item, then allow them to do so.  If you offer SD on the cheaper listings, you'll get the badge and the meagre 1% discount.  You should consider whether to offer SD on heavy items that will exceed the £10 eBay limit - unless the margin can absorb the extra cost.

Also, with SD, your cut-off is 3.30pm on a Friday, so an SD order that arrives before 3.30pm will have to be despatched that day.  If it arrives on the deadline, can you pack it and get it to the PO before the van arrives?  At one time, an SD despatched on Friday always arrived on Monday so you had wriggle room to get it to the PO on Saturday morning with no loss of transit speed.  However, I've found that SD sometimes arrives on Saturday or Sunday, and buyers are starting to realise this, and may whinge if it isn't posted until Saturday.

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

I've checked all my postage policies and can't find that wording anywhere,  I got an email from ebay this morning saying congrats you are now a Top rated Seller, but none of my listings are down as qualified still.  I'm utterly confused, this is such a faff.  I view my listings to check the postage policies and don't see the 24hr option that I added anywhere on the listing unless this just appears when you have an item in your cart?  But the majority of my items now have a 24 and 48hr shipping option and they all have same day despatch on them.  Do I need to bleed on the Alter of eBay to get this to work?  I don't want to offer tracked and 24 hour options on my cheaper stuff becasue I'd have to massively increase the price to accommodate the "free" postage offered, so they'd not sell.  So because a handful of items don't offer this service, none of my listings that DO offer the services get a badge?

Confusion with the top rated Seller wording

You can have listings that qualify and those that don't - the badge will show on qualifying listings - so that's not the issue.

Your listings now show 'dispatch within 1 working day'. Yesterday it was within 2 days. So it seems somethings been edited.

At the bottom of the page link I posted there's the dispatch time, set that to same day in all policies, and, within 5 mins it should show on your listings. If that doesn't work then I'm at a loss.

Yes, it was a faff for me when I did

With T48 or 2nd class you need to dispatch same day - within 1 day I think works with 1st/T24 + SD combo

You don't have to offer the TRS service on all your listings.  I have non-TRS status on listings where postage is a separate charge.  I've looked at your listings, and all I can see is the T48 and T24 options.  If you've included SD on your postage policy you should be able to see it offered alongside the other two options.  I suggest you check the policy to make absolutely sure that the update was saved.

Thanks apolloslots,

Would you know about the 10% discount on fees comes off the sales amount on individual orders or its adjusted month end in some sort of credit to the account?
