Combining postage

Hi,

I want to see if there is a way to combine postage automatically when a buyer is about to checkout. Currently my buyers could buy 2-3 things that each have their own postage policy weighing different amounts but often I can combine it  when packaging. Usually I ask the customer to pay and then I refund the difference or they request an invoice and I adjust that way. But I want to see if I can set up rules automatically.

Looking at my postage preferences I have 'allow combining' enabled but there are more rules around flat rates and discounts and it doesn't look like it accounts for different items having different weights. I may sell track that weighs 10kg and then a car that weighs 250g, I would need to ensure they pay for the 10kg at least and not the other way around.

Is there a way to do this or shall I carry on how I have been doing it?

Kind regards, David.

Re: Combining postage

If you are a private seller and BPF fees will apply to what you sell then I'd advise using description to tell users to contact you if they want to combine postage. That way you can relist what they want together.

At the moment with the new roll out the old way of combining postage looks destroyed and from examples I've seen it looks like customers are paying BPF on every item they purchase in a combined order.

I'm fairly certain the above isn't trying to circumvent eBay policies as their combined order system looks broken right now.

Re: Combining postage

It won't work for people like us who treat people fairly. To do it right you can only combine when you know the final weight, size and packing needed for the items. I have always done it manually and if this is taken away i am gone, not having 21 years of honest selling to be ruined by anyone

Re: Combining postage

I'm not sure it's broken more likely deliberate getting 75p on every item plus the postages if forced SD, not so clever, the online news is full of it and i can see buyers leaving in droves if we can no longer treat them fairly. Also i won't be buying on here. Have spent a lot on fish food from a business but i see he sells elsewhere and it's cheaper by £1.75. Have not bought anything this year at all

Re: Combining postage

If it really was their intention to do that deliberately then they haven't got a single, active, firing brain cell between them.
