I just listed a new item today, everything seemed fine but then when looking a few minuits later I realised Collect In Person had been added to my listing (I did not activate this option)
I do not want to offer Collect In Person and will only use tracked and insured postage (You are not covered by seller protection if you allow a person to collect an item)
At the very least ebay should warn member that this option is now activated by default.
If like myself you are used to using a fast template to list an item this is very easily missed.
Ebay please make sure to warn sellers that you are changing defaults, or even better leave it to the seller to change their options!

It's not a default, so must be some kind of weird glitch if you didn't accidentally select it.
However, nobody else has mentioned this in any of the eBay Community boards yet , so it may just be a one off.

Thanks for your reply,
Well I never touch postage options because I always post by Free Special Delivery, I was very surprised to see it added.
Maybe this has just started today.

There has been a recent change of layout of listings in seller hub, just above Package Size are large boxes to click to select Postage only, Collection only or both. Perhaps possibly to ghost click one?

Thanks for your reply,
Yes I saw that when I looked to remove the collect in person from my listing, but I never clicked any change before listing.
It was automatically implemented.

I've got it in big letters collect in person. Not happy. I don't want any Tom, *bleep* and Harry ( no offence to anyone of that name) turning up at my house.

Hi. I am having the same problem. Collection has been added to my listing, even though its not selected in the listing. Cant seem to remove it!
In fact, it says "Collection Only" on the listing, which is definitly not the case!
Any ideas ?

Hi,
To remove it click revise item then look for the option below (See image)

Thank you, but I have done that. It says postage only on there.
But on the listing it still says collection only.
Grrrrrr.

Don't forget to click save changes, also sometimes it can take a while to change.
Also, make sure you have a postage option active.

Out of intrest I had a look at one of my items and it had collection Click and Collect which I have always allowed as this is sending it to a shop for them to collect rather than the buyer turning up at your house. I then edited the listing from posting only to posting and collection to see what it said, and in the collection it gave my town and county. I then turned it back to posting only and it did take off the collection at my location but it didn't then Show Click and Collect and I can't see where you turn Click and Collect on, does anybody know?

I've just checked my Postage Prefences and I am still enrolled in Click and Collect it's just not showing it to me in the listing.

I've just checked my item again and it is now showing the Click and Collect as before so obviously it just took sometime to catch up with me changng the options.

This just happened to me to! Just got a message from someone asking if I lived near them as collection in person was on my listing. I also don't want people coming to my home. I have been able to remove the option on listings that don't have bids yet, but not from the ones that do.

This was 100% helpful !
What are eBay playing at ???
This is a cheek and a liberty ! - I only offer postage only as my 80 year old mother does not want every Tom, 0ick & Harry calling round !
eBay PLEASE stop messing with things and making sneaky changes WITHOUT your user's consent ! 😡

They really do seem to be pushing it hence the payment clampdown I guess. It's the only way they can make claims like 'buy it today, get it today!' to compete in the instant local delivery and click n collect marketplace.

happens to me also a number of times . cant even ask the buyer for an address and post it either as a colection code is required from buyer. also cant even see if any other of my listings have been mysteriously changed as there is no option to search so only way i can see is to go through every single listing to check which is not an option.

It's a real pain now having to revise every listing from "Collection in person" & "Postage" to "Postage Only" and of course any new listing you make eBay automatically defaults to "Collection in person" & "Postage"
I have forgotten many times and submitted a new listing without checking this ! and found to my horror that it was saying "Collection in person" & "Postage" !!!
Those in eBay really need to give their users the option to select what postage options they want to use for ALL THEIR EBAY LISTINGS (from the main seller dashboard) and once the desired option is selected eBay should then RESPECT what the user has chosen and only default to this UNTIL THE USER CHANGES IT AGAIN if they so wish !
The people of eBay really need to give people a choice and let them choose which settings and options which is right for them - NOT JUST PLASTER EVERYONE WITH THE SAME THING IRRESPONSIBLY WITHOUT ANY CONSIDERATION OR THOUGHT !

I did 10 drafts yesterday and all of them had collection in person as the default.
That wasn't the only problem with them either, I did the drafts on pc but when I checked them with the intention or making them live on my phone I found a number of differences on all of them, photos had been reordered, postage settings had either been changed or were not even set, and the buy it now price had been changed
