Choosing Postage and charges.

I apologise in advance if I appear to be thick!  I haven't listed anything on EBay for some time now and I have just tried to list a couple of things and I just cannot fathom out the postage.  I used to choose to send by Royal Mail and it was usually a small parcel under 2kg and I put my charge of £3.80 for postage and packing.  Ebay charged me something like £3.50 so I covered my costs.  Now I can't see the same choice of postage rates and when I re-looked at my listing it says postage charge £2.82 - I know that won't cover it so if I do sell and print off the label then it won't be right!  What am I doing wrong?

The introduction of SImple Delivery is causing quite a lot of confusion... for those who have not done any selling recently, it will be even more confusing.

You may still be able to select your own postage - not all listings have been 'switched over' to Simple Delivery yet - but if you are starting new listings, it might not be possible to choose Custom postage.

Do you have the link 'Switch to advanced options', underneath the 'Postage set-up' box?

The Simple Delivery amount ebay are using  just covers the postage by the way...... if you want to charge anything for the packaging part of 'P+P' , you'll have to add it to the price of the item.

Simple delivery costs are different to costs you would pay Royal Mail or Evri for the same package.

Which bit? If ebay give you a postage label and you item isn't restricted and not over size and weight limits you can use it. You (as a seller) don't get to choose the services or prices.

Assuming you are talking about UK Simple Delivery, when you list you will see something similar to the below (browser version). Select the appropriate option. The label provided is valid for posting. Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

eBay have agreed special rates with Royal Mail and Evri, your post office should accept the prepaid label from eBay
