Buying a second label - advice please

I didn't have access to the car today so had a Royal Mail collection booked. They have failed to turn up which is unusual for them

The trouble is the buyer needed the item before the w/e so I'm happy to purchase another label - this time First Class.

I notice on the desktop dropdown there is 'Get another label'. Is this the way to go i.e. will I get an automatic refund for the original label?

Thanks for any help as not had to do this since SD.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

Yes, RM 1st Class is not available with SD. You can offer RM Tracked 24, but I'm not sure how cancelling an SD label and purchasing another one with a different service works - or if it is even possible?!

If you buy postage outside of eBay, you can apply for a refund for the unused SD label, if you paid for the postage/offered freepost. If the buyer paid, they will get the refund.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

I think I've answered my own question. I don't think I can upgrade to First Class once the SD for an item is locked in. I'm going to have to buy it off eBay and cancel the original.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

I've now bought a RM Tracked 24 with Parcel2Go. However I cannot see a way of editing the tracking number the way we used to be able. Likewise there's no option to 'Mark as undispatched' like before.

I'll put in for a refund, but without the correct tracking no. it's a bit of a mess!

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

You will need to add the new tracking number, or your payment for the item will be delayed. Also, you would not be able to apply for an SD refund if there is no tracking number... it's all a bit 'Catch 22'...😄

'If you selected ‘Seller pays’ and offered free postage on your listing, you'll need to fill out the Request a refund for Simple Delivery form for the label that wasn’t used. Make sure to send your request within 14 days of your item selling.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

P&P was paid by buyer so it appears I cannot apply for a refund - even to go to buyer. I cannot understand why I'm unable to make any update to the tracking number which is a crazy situation. SD is even worse than I initially thought & listing items on eBay becoming very stressful unfortunately.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

SD p&p cost (when paid by the buyer) should be automatically refunded to the buyer in 30 days.

According to other members you should be able to update the tracking number as long as (i.e. after) you have generated the original SD label. If it doesn't work, let us know and I'll try and find their specific instruction. I've not done it myself.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

I ended up buying Tracked 24 via Parcel2Go, another collection, and s*d's law the postman failed to collect again! Have just taken it to the PO & it's on its way at last.

I still canot find a way to update the tracking though, which means it's going to look as if not actually posted plus no payment for a couple of weeks. I saw a post from Marco about the subject but he appears to be away so will be too late for any help. There are so many scenarios when another label has to be generated so it's a crazy situation.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

As per #7 another member says they can do it on this page, after generating the Simple Delivery label

https://www.ebay.co.uk/sh/ord/?filter=status:ALL_ORDERS

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

This is the trouble with Simple Delivery - any problem seems to cause all sorts of other problems, compared to Custom postage, when you could easily cancel postage, buy a different service, refund the buyer etc, without all this palaver...

If all else fails with the tracking issue, you could try ringing Customer Services - I would think they ought to be able to change the tracking for you, if you explain what happened with the parcel not being collected from you, & having to buy quicker postage.

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

I have finally found a way to change the tracking as I definitely was unable to do so from the 'Orders' page.. I went to the Help pages and clicked on the transaction I needed help with. Then clicked Manage Sale and then there's a drop down option to Add Tracking so I copied and pasted the new tracking number in.

It worked but this was a ridiculous 'round the houses' way and should have been a simple procedure from the Orders page.

Relieved though!

Re: Buying a second label - advice please

Thanks for updating with how you managed to find where to change the tracking number. This will help others who are in the same boat, going round in circles...

Hopefully your payment will be released quickly now!
