I have refunded a buyer for an item and have refunded return postage but have not received the item. Any advice as to what I can do?

Yes... learn from the experience & never refund before the item is returned.

You must never refund a buyer before they return the item, and only do the refund through a case the buyer opens.
Nothing you can do through eBay now, you are totally reliant on the buyer's honesty to return the item.
Send them a polite message that return postage cost has been sent, if they could kindly return your item, but nothing to enforce them to do so.
Was it expensive? You may wish to turn to legal advice as to how to proceed. If not, it's notching it up to experience, not to refund until the item is back with you.

Ooops.
You should only ever refund once item has been returned via a dispute/claim/returns request opened through Ebay.
You are now reliant on buyer returning the item but cannot force them to.
Ebay won't get involved at all.
