Buyer arranging own courier

I am selling an item for local collection only. The potential buyer wants to arrange their own courier - should I ask for the buyer to provide the "collection code" before i hand over the item to the courier? Otherwise I may never see them, the item or my money ever again!

Yes, you need that collection code.

Be aware that the buyer loses ebay protection from the money back guarantee when they use a courier for a collection item.

Thanks, I will ask for the code the day before the courier is due.

Re: Buyer arranging own courier

Ebay's other suggestion was to wait 14 days then the funds would be automatically released ... surely not if the buyer denied collecting it!?!?

Re: Buyer arranging own courier

If I was you.....

I would also ask for the buyer to send you through the contact info for the courier, so you can 'confirm those details with them a time of collection', that way there can't be a dispute later about whether a courier or the buyer in person did the collection.

Re: Buyer arranging own courier

I would also input the collection code to make sure it is valid (at the time of collection and before the courier departs with the goods).
