Is this Simple Delivery or options you have left the buyer to choose from?

The buyer is saying they didn't select anything & i'm pretty sure (as the listing also shows) I filled out the listing in a normal way for such an item with normal P/force48 - but just went to print & it's showing me (with a "buyer selected" sign next to it) 'express 48'

Does it matter? But it's just my normal photography gear. Buyer said he's happy with advertised posting, guess it could be a glitch, ..but why even make that event possible ? whatever the case seems to be what ebay has done, eg it *says* 'buyer selected' & it's not an option I specified on the listing.
I guess what i'm getting at is can buyers select from others regardless what I do, I was not aware of this if so...

Well Simple Delivery has only been available on Clothing.
If it's on yours on photography gear then you are the first case I've actually seen of it.
If the buyer is saying that they didn't select it, then it could be the auto/ai system in play or worse still the mandatory bit the CEO mentioned.
So, yes, it could be important. For far more than your sale.
If you can provide screenshots, maybe ask the buyer for the same, we can look. Alot of very experienced users here and between us they'll know if something looks different.
Obviously remove personal details from screenshots.

Hopefully that didn't come across wrong. I wasn't trying to give orders, but I'm blunt, so my apologies in case it did.

Your listing states Parcelforce 48. According the Parcelforce site, the service is Parcelforce Express 48.
Looks like it's just different wording for the same service.
Edited: I see you said the 'buyer selection' cost more than you had allowed for. So it must be 2 services.

'Simple Delivery' ...guess why i'v not heard of it.
I don't wan't to cause hassle over a 'possible' over zealous buyer, purely speculation. But yea, I just went from fresh item sold page to print again (just to make sure I didn't accidentally click it on opening) & it goes strait to same service, eg, not one shown in live listing.

I've never seen that myself as seller, but I stopped my listings before this new rollout.
I have seen screenshots similar to that in the Business Seller area and they all think it's Simple Delivery.
Over to the floor.

The screenshot isn't Simple Delivery, and on the right hand side, next to 'Selected' it does say Parcelforce 48 (no 'express').
A previous camera you sold had Royal Mail 48 as the service used. Are you sure you didn't mean to select RM48 when listing? Parcelforce seems a bit OTT for a not that heavy item sold for £20 (assuming it was that one.)

Why does it say "Buyer Selected" then?

You have set your listing up as Parcelforce which is the incorrect postage service for your item, you should have used RM 48 Tracked or equivalent.
All sales will shows this is what the buyer has selected because this is what is on your listing, it isn't worded the best way because the buyer can only select either an express option if you have added this.
I would override this and scroll down to RM Tracked 48 for £3.39, it will make no difference to the sale in anyway.
It has absolutely nothing to do with simple delivery.
I would change your shipping policy to reflect the items you are selling, Parcelforce is for heavy items over 5KG really, anything under 2KG then use RM Tracked 48 it is only a few pence more than a standard parcel with RM.
The charge you are seeing with parcelforce would cover a parcel up to 30KG so not the best option for your items.

I think it always does pick the service that is on the listing, or the one the buyer selected, if they had a choice.
I can't see it on my listings, because I always use 'Other Courier', so there isn't a set service to flag up.
I think the OP meant to select Royal Mail48, rather than Parcelforce 48, which is a much more expensive service.

Fair enough. But if they didn't, then we all know there is something else out there designed to take over. They've (eBay) told us that much. That's why I asked for the screenshot.

It is part of the service seller selected when listing the item. Yes free postage but you offer witch service it will go by, The op selected this service at time of listing otherwise it wouldn't be available.
As it of no cost to seller id forget using postage label from eBay but go post office ask for the service you want and manually enter the tracking or but direct from royal mail online. you can also arrange a collection at the same time.

Thanks. Think I'v been flitting between the two a bit & went to PF 48 after other RM service was £4 + for shoe box size, ..Over xmas was a bit odd & seemed to be limiting postage options, especially abroad when at one point only letter options available abroad? anyway, Iv also noticed when making listing you actually have to search to get right options to show up, to point of searching internet for service to get initial spelling/words right so search function in ebay finds it. & yes I know I can change to other service now, wasn't really my issue.
I get what your saying but this was not the service I selected. & I can scroll down & select the actual 'PF' 48 I initially did.. I may do this for this one as I tol buyer that's service i'm using for this..

Thanks, As i'v elaborated in another reply i'v been using both, I seemed to be having hassle finding right service through ebay search function before & PF was a cheaper option for shoe box size. Now that I look again RM is the only other '48' available scrolling down (me not looking closely) But for life of me at one point i'm sure it was only one offering recorded at reasonable cost.

"& I can scroll down & select the actual 'PF' 48"
Ok that part was a lie, 🙂 not looking close. My bad. But i'm sure i ended up switching to this for some items & was getting small parcels posted for £3-odd recorded.
Whatever, ignore me then.
Thanks anyway all, I really need to nail down this stuff. God knows why at one point service list only brought up two or three letter options over xmas period, I thought there goes any parcels abroad (again) & Iv had issue with it all along tbh.

Not at all,
& seems just a mixture of me being a klutz & who knows, maybe older computer full ram or something that's limiting what search showed, I did use folks older windows machine for printing before. & i'v carried forward some templates I 'think' used before, ...
Grateful for help/getting my head straighter, sorry to waste peoples time for me not paying proper attention. I guess it's good in a way but always lots to juggle here & i'm still woking on getting on top of things, ..never totally going to happen is it ...🙂
