An answer about 'low-price' items!

Just spotted a reply from Kat@ebay in one of the threads...........

the exclusion from Simple Delivery is for  Low priced items (under £10.00) that also weigh less than 100gms (and fit in an envelope).

(I didn't believe it when it was just CS saying so; they talk a load of elderly shoemakers. But I'm prepared to believe it from Kat!)

@lucy_farmer

You missed the "should"?

Wow. I thought you were fluent in eBay en*bleep*ification speech.

I wonder if that is £10.00 including BPF.

They surely must know how important this issue is to private sellers. Why is every change of policy just drip fed and abundantly unclear?

Because they like it that way.

Means their CS can come up with any old bs when they receive complaints.

Nobody fully understands it anyway.

@wintersdawn1

I love the "should"

It's been a while since they've been using their wriggle room words and I missed them.

Other exclusions I am led to believe apart from the one mentioned above by @lucy_farmer are (and I don't know if that includes large letters under 100gms)

parcels over medium size with RM

Authenticity items

And items that fall under say Royal Mails prohibitve items list.

Also @lovewoodbridge  Waiting for clarification on your point as that would make a difference of whether you could list items at £9.99 + BPF or at £9.20

@lovewoodbridge  As I mentioned last night the clarification on your original question is that the £10 figure includes BPF (I have been out all day so only just home)

Also the 100gms rule includes large letters as well as standard letters.

I wonder how they will know what it weighs? I have stuff that weighs 86g with good packaging 110g.  SD doesn't seem to include a Large letter 100g -250g (usually £1.90) but without restricting the ability to buy it via Ebay under exemption rules, you could / can buy it. Or you could buy it on RM if you wanted to avoid Ebay. I would happily use SD as a seller if the right postage sizes and weights were available, but I know as a buyer I hate postage charges and would rather see free post.

I'm sure there are many changes still to come and i do try to work with them, but it is exhausting trying to work with half the information required.

The word should pops up on the weekly chat quite often.

Don`t think they are confident enough with the way eBay works to say definitely will

What happens with an auction.

Start at 99p and it's opted out, sell for 10.01 and what happens?

That would be good news - apart from the fact that I haven't had the option to put in size and weight measurements when I'm listing for a couple of weeks now. It has been mentioned on the weekly chats. Will this be fixed by 15th April? If not how will eBay know that the item is under 100g, please?

My answer from Ebay CS.

"To answer your first question, both conditions must be met for an item to be exempt from the Simple delivery: the item needs to weigh below 100g and be priced at less than £10. For example, an item that is 150g, even if it’s priced at £8, would not qualify for the exemption. Similarly, an item that weighs 50g but is priced at £15 would also not be exempt.

Regarding auction listings that start under £10, if the final bid exceeds that amount, the exemption would no longer apply once the auction concludes. So, it’s important to be mindful of any potential final prices.

As for your last question, the £10 threshold exclude the buyer protection fee."

How does this compare to everyone elses answers?

Well, I'm still waiting to hear how eBay will know the item is less than 100g when there are no size/weight boxes to fill on the listing form.

Yup. I could enter size and weight until yesterday so postage could be correct.

It has vanished. Do eBay not think this is important with so much relying on whether an item is above or below that?
