300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

I am a pensioner and since my husband past I have been using nearly all of 1000 listings per month as I am trying to sell things  (down sizing) to try & help make life a bit more viable with the cost of everything nowadays. It is a huge reduction for  private sellers 1000 down to only 300 per month. Good for businesses less competition. I spoke to an ebay agent on the telephone and complained about it and was told it has brought us into line with Europe.  Doesn't ebay know we are no longer in the EU so that arguement  falls flat on its face.

I am hardly selling many items anymore because of this so, I will look at other sites to sell on . Ebay I have been with you for over 16 years shame on you.

IMO 300 listings at zero fees is better than 1000 listings at over 13% fees plus occasionally 100 listings at 80% off fees.

You're honestly better off financially paying the 35p for extra listings above the 300, compared to paying full final value fees.

It seems many people think they only get 300 listings, not appreciating that it's 300 new free listings, and then you pay a small listing fee.

If ALL listings were visible for everyone - we are well aware they are not, they are being " hidden"... as can be seen from many posts on here who have been experiencing it.

There is no level playing field.

It is geared to " pay to promote" and you may then get 50 to 100% shown? The " free to sell"  eBay introduced ( private sellers did not ask) has caused a division, if people think that eBay did not know this would happen they are sadly mistaken... it is planned for when they introduce their other " measures"...

The worst form of equality is trying to make unequal things equal.

Generally i am also not into conspiracy theories BUT saying that it does seen an awful high coincidence ......say i sell 4 or 5 items they all seem to go to one part of the Uk.....usually Scotland.

Re: 300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

I get this too, but one reason for this is silly blanket rules at other shops like 'minimum order for Scottish Postcodes past Edinburgh, no free delivery, add £5 to courier price quoted' or 'We cannot send to NI due to restrictions on the use of cardboard' or such nonsense. So people in these areas are usually pleased to find the same item sent RM at no extra cost. And also if you're isolated mail order on second hand or discontinued stuff is always a bonus!

Granted the NI situation is more complex now post-Brexit but they have been messed around for years and years by people thinking they can't send stuff there because of imaginary reasons, as have highland and island dwellers.

Not challenging you, but has anyone any experience of using another account to do a search that should pick up their items, and not been able to find them?

I have monitored now for some time.

The cycles are obvious... My small sales zero for weeks on end, then a cluster of 2 or 3  at one time,  from the same geographical area  too.

I have experience of searching for something very specific, e.g. "Panorama 5G antenna", and then at the bottom of the screen is the 'similar items' panel full of items that aren't in the search but there is no reason they shouldn't have been.

well my sales seem to go in cycles!  couple of weeks of drought (lucky if i get one sale) and then a vertiable feast 4/5 over a couple of days.  Does not match up with end of month pay as you might think either.  There is usually the same drought in views which leads me to wonder if there is anything in the 'tin foil hat' theory of some kind of blanking over certain periods.  This has been pretty routine for me for the past couple of years.

My opinion, their are various cycles in operation that interact. There is a monthly pay cycle, there is a "new listing" cycle, there is a "ending soon" cycle, there is a longer term economic "I'm not feeling very well off" cycle that is offset by a "I'm feeling depressed so I need to buy a gloom chaser" cycle, and probably various others.

Re: 300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

Yes, a family member did some search & research and only found 2 of mine  ( not immediately) and when they clicked on sellers other items for sale, it showed only 7   -  there were 21 items listed at that time, some were relists.

I have previously had a  conversation  with an agent - They checked to see if there was a "reason"  on my account as to why that  would happen... there was not ( of course not,  I already knew that)  told to " sell things people want to buy?" ...Unhelpful...

Totally missing the point,  BUT within 48 hours I sold 3 items in the space of an hour, after a long " drought"...

So, my thoughts were eBay know what is happening, they have " actions" they take  actively to hide, block, etc the same as they can remove... I think it is happening on a larger scale and affecting ( from what I can see) at least everyone who has mentioned it on here.

I feel we're in an experiment whilst they " tinker"...

Thank you for that.

Two things puzzle me:

Who benefits?

Why has there never been (as far as I know) any whistleblower type anonymous confirmation (or refutation) of the conspiracy theories by ex Ebay employees? Blogging or youtubing or something. Or has there?

Re: 300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

I must admit my sales have been very good lately....quite surprised me.

I have stopped listing at the minute but may schedule a few items for over Christmas.......in the past we have done very well when items end Christmas Day evening or Boxing Day 🙂

Mystery, intrigue and conspiracy are a lot more fun.

Think of the disappointment if they published the truth.

Re: 300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

What do you think of the  new " saved feed"  - I just do not get why it is there - we have recently viewed ( I do find the useful)  and I have looked at the saved feed twice now and it appears to show a few  items I had " recently viewed" and new items listed from sellers I have purchased from before, or sellers I have never purchased from, and of  which I absolutely have no interest in and/or do not correlate with even being in the same category as my previous purchase.

I wish I could remove it.

Re: 300 listings per month for private sellers it is very bad as I am a Pensioner

Here is the truth from what hubby and i can see going on with our own account (this is the only one we have)

Sales tend to go to mainly one part of the Uk when i list say 10 items at a time....and sell say 3 or 4

When we do not list for a couple of weeks and then start again.........sales start 🙂  When we continuously list a few items way less items sell.   I try not to relist items and most are new listings.

When i sign out of Ebay and look at my own listings.......often some are missing

It has felt in the past as if Ebay have put a sales limit on us 🙂

I have no conspiracy theory just pointing out what we see.

It's incompetence and cluelessness every time at 3bay over conspiracy. The only conspiracy is the conspiracy to consistently get things so wrong you'd think there was a greater force behind it.

Exactly - it is happening, no conspiracy in sight!

Good for you " playing around" to see what works... I have done this also, but it is hit and miss really and am tired of it.
