Opaline bottles?

Hello!

Can someone help me to identify this 2 bottles?

They have -at least- 50 years old (information provided by the seller,  in a flea market...)

Are they opaline bottles?

Thank you very much 🙂

Re: Opaline bottles?

Opaline refers to the appearance of the material rather than a particular manufacturer. Opaline glass generally has a milky or opaque look to it. By the looks of things your bottles would probably have started life in a shop window as part of a display in either a pharmacy or beauty shop.

Re: Opaline bottles?

Thank you Wsrecycling!

The seller told me that they probably are made by 'vidro coalhado', a portuguese term that i would translate as clotted glass or stained glass.

In fact, i'm trying to discover something about the history of the two pieces, the date of production and other curiosities...

Thank you for your help and interest!

Bye 🙂

Re: Opaline bottles?

The US pottery glass and porcelain forum is very good for glass http://community.ebay.com/t5/Pottery-Glass-Porcelain/bd-p/275

They will want to see a picture of the base and if you can take a picture of the bottles against a plain background it would be better. They can be a bit fierce over there but most of the advice is good.
