I know this group is for British Pottery mainly but would appreciate any information from members on a hollow moulded polar bear I bought in Brussels som time ago from an antique shop. He is about 12 inches long and 8 high.
The mark is for Nidderviller (see photos). Is this a genuine 1920/30s item or modern? I have tried to find similar doing an internet search but have not got anywhere. Any help would be much appreciated.
Many thanks

This could be old or modern as the factory is still producing items though I'm not sure if they are still making the polar bears.

Hi Nick,
Sorry for the delay in replying. There are a few sites that give information on Niderviller, namely:
http://www.britannica.com/EBchecked/topic/414517/Niderviller-ware
http://www.millersantiquesguide.com/a-to-z/niderviller-pottery-and-porcelain-factory/
I hope this helps. You need to Search for Niderviller (one D only)
Have a great Christmas.
