Can anybody help with a simple delivery refund question. I have searched the forum but there are many conflicting answers.
I advertised an item as free delivery, i.e. I pay the delivery costs at point of sale using ebay simple delivery. Customer purchases the item and then within an hour requests a refund as they purchased the item by mistake. No problem, I issue the refund straight away and haven't even downloaded the postage label at this point. I have just noticed that the customer was refunded their payment, however ebay charged me for simple delivery at point of sale, and even though the customer cancelled the order and no postage was required I have not been issued a refund for the postage. Do I need to do anything to recover these costs? some suggest going into orders and postage and cancelling the label however even though the cancel option is showing, when you click on it you just get a message to say you cannot cancel a simple delivery label (making the cancel button a little pointless!), some suggest waiting 30 days and you will get an automatic refund and others saying you need to complete a simple delivery refund request within 14 days or you cannot claim a refund, which would be very frustrating as a seller having to fill out forms every time a customer changes their mind just to claim back a few ££. If somebody can clarify how I claim back my postage costs in these circumstances I would be very grateful. I know its a small amount but given that Evri have lost or damaged over 30% of the parcels sent through simple delivery over the last month I dont want to give them any more than i need to!

Hi karen091078, thanks for your post.
If you issued the cancellation, and cancelled the label (presuming that you purchased the label through eBay), you wouldn't need to do anything else and the refund will go back to your account between 14 and 30 days (depending on how you purchased your label). If you need further assistance, let me know the item number, and I'll be happy to take a further look for you.
Thank you,
Marco
