I recently noticed that the eBay postage label on one of my recent orders had a date to post it by. The date is after the EDD and long after the seller's claimed 1 day dispatch. The item arrived a few days after the EDD but before the post by. What is the meaning of the post by date?

It is the expiry date on the label. I see it on my Royal Mail ones, it just means it will be invalid if I don't post it by a certain date but it is weeks ahead and never relevant.

The date on the label is nothing to do with EDD.
It basically a use by date for RM labels bought online.
If it doesn't get posted and scanned by the date on the label it's no longer valid.
It wouldn't be accepted at the post office and the sender would have to get the label voided and buy a new one.

RM labels bought though eBay can be cancelled on the postage labels section of the selling hub.
As long as it hasn't been scanned you should get a refund.
But it could take a couple of weeks.
