When selling an item above £10, is eBay's postage label mandatory?

Having just learned that items above £10 disqualify Custom Postage, I was intending to post my item using postage stamps instead of eBay's postage label, because the label is minimum £2.70 while the item only costs £1.55 to post (and I have quite a few of these items), but found that eBay deducts the selected postage amount automatically.

Is then the eBay label mandatory on items above £10? Or is there a way to prevent the automatic charge and pay at the post office instead?

It's mandatory over £10, I'm afraid.
