Simple delivery

Lots of posts regarding Simple Delivery. When you get to the SD screen (after you've added the price} simply click on the < or X top left to go to another screen giving you different options.

This is using the eBay app. Don't know if it works on the website.

Re: Simple delivery

You don't have to use Simple Delivery for some items in some categories,  perhaps this is what you are seeing.

Otherwise, you're free to use custom postage on items, but you cannot add new tracking,  your payout is held for a minimum of 14 days,  and you have to wait 30 days if you initially paid for a SD postage label,  for that to be refunded,  that is,  if you remember to claim within 14 days !

eBay make it possible, but not an easy ride to use Custom postage,  when SD should be used by Private sellers.

Remember that items are insured for up to £750,  if the item is lost or damaged in transit,  eBay refund the buyer,  and the seller gets to keep the payout.  It's not All bad news with SD. 🤗

Re: Simple delivery

Yes, I know, that's why I posted because many others don't realise that. I almost always use Royal Mail and I print my labels through the Royal Mail app, which allows me to add tracking if I want it. In my opinion the way eBay persuades people to use Simple Delivery is wrong, just making extra money for them. Even untracked, Royal Mail will often refund if an item has gone astray.

Re: Simple delivery

But why the minimum charge? I can send a thin, lightweight item through the post for the price of a second class stamp and even a 2nd class large letter is cheaper than the eBay Simple Delivery price. I always get a free proof of posting and during the long time I've been with eBay I've only ever had to request a refund from Royal Mail on two occasions. This is just eBay making more money.

Re: Simple delivery

The problem is, the proof of posting is what you need if you need to claim against RM for loss of damage. It does not prove that the buyer has actually got the item. If the postie doesn't scan the code at the buyers door (and a lot of them do not) then you have no proof of DELIVERY and the buyer will win the case every time.

Re: Simple delivery

The few times RM hasn't delivered an item they have refunded me as £20 insurance is given free on every item sent by RM. I use their app which gives me a label, and they offer free collection and they give me proof of posting. eBay's Simple Delivery is too expensive, even if I send my items tracked by 48 hours tracked by RM.
