Simple delivery- no thanks! I am finished with ebay

I don't agree with and don't want simple delivery imposed on me. So that's me out as well.

Simple delivery- no thanks! I am finished with ebay

I've just been on the phone to an agent (in Texas!) for about 45 minutes.

I listed an item, of which I had 14 identical items available. I listed with a fixed postage cost no matter if you bought 1 or all 14. I declared the weight as under 1kg. Someone bought 5 and ebay then decided the parcel must weigh up to 5kg (and charge the buyer accordingly) when in fact, the parcel with 5 items weighed less than 200 grams. There was no way to adjust the prepaid label to reflect the fact that it did NOT weigh 5kg.

The only solution was to ignore the pre-paid label and take the parcel to the post office and pay cash. The amount charged for the pre-paid label would then be refunded (to me or the buyer???) after 30 days.

They suggested I adjust the selling price and offer free postage. Not practical when the items sell for £2.50 each. For small quantities I would have to increase the price to a level where they wouldn't sell.

So it's definitely NOT simple delivery if you can't make adjustments when eBay incorrectly makes assumptions about multiple item purchases.

Yep,  it's still a technical issue, why so long to fix this?  Nobody knows!

If postage was purchased though Simple Delivery and you now post all the items together the buyer will receive a refund for the unused labels they paid for, might be worth sending them a message explaining this,  and that it may take up to / over 30 days for the refund to appear.

The best way forward would be to cancel all items, of course,  with the buyer's acceptance, and relisting them as one, so there's one  important tracking number, one postage price. Ensure any message to your buyer makes it very clear the reason why the items are being cancelled,  that they are to be relisted on eBay again,  for the buyer to buy, leave no room for doubt that this is Not an off eBay sale.

Some sellers are leaving a message on their listing,  for example.....   ' If you wish to buy multiple items,  please let me know before buying,  I will relist them as one listing so only one postage cost is charged, combining postage is not currently possible.

If the buyer paid the postage then the buyer will get refunded if the label isn't used

Why should any buyer pay five lots of postage then wait a month to get the refund

Good suggestions. Thanks.

The other issue associated with this is that I have now taken the parcel to the post office and paid cash for the same service. Not using the pre-paid label means I'm unable to update the transaction with "dispatched" and a (different) tracking number.

I'll be reviewing all my listed items and opt out of "simple delivery" if possible

Thanks. Yes, that makes sense (now my anger with ebay has reduced!)

Exactly. As another of my messages, I'll opt out of simple delivery wherever possible so I can set my own postage cost

Every private seller is going to be on compulsory Simple Delivery. You can't opt out of it.
