Simple Delivery or not?

Hard to explain. Firstly I use Simple Delivery even if it is optional. All my items use the SD parcel size recommendation. All my items are tagged buyer pays postage. I have disabled all courier options except Royal Mail as I use their collection service. Twice in 12 hours I have sold items only to be confronted with having to pay for an Evri label selected by the buyer. In one case the cost of the label exceeded the cost of the item, in the other the parcel was bigger than the price paid by the buyer resulting in me having to spend more than they had paid for the postage. Now had this been SD as listed eBay would have paid the difference as parcel size was listed based on their recommendation. I have spoken to customer services and they couldn’t explain it beyond it being my fault. I’ve used SD since it started, I send out an average of 2-3 parcels a day. My listings are all for similar items and they all use the same postage defaults. I’ve not suddenly started doing anything different. Can anyone explain to me what is happening here? Am I doing something wrong and if so what?

Re: Simple Delivery or not?

This has happened to other people.   See this thread:

Maybe Marco could look into it for you.

Re: Simple Delivery or not?

Hi blackpoodleretro, thanks for your post.

Please note that disabling other couriers doesn't mean that you will be exclusively using the one you've left enabled only. Depending on each case, we may provide the label of a different courier even if it is disabled. You can confirm this from our help pages here. However, if you confirm those item numbers, we can take a look to see what happened.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Simple Delivery or not?

Your issue is nothing to do with Simple Delivery itself - the issue is the listings were either setup with (or were amended) to Custom Delivery.

At this stage - you end up getting the amount noted on the listing for postage - and have to buy postage with that money. You don't necessarily have to use ebays postage purchasing services for this - you could purchase elsewhere and upload the tracking.

Why it happens - no idea - it happened on some of my listings as well.

Re: Simple Delivery or not?

thanks for that however there was nothing about these items in terms of size weight or location that would necessitate using a different courier. Twice in 12 hours this happened yet it had never happened in the previous 18 months or so since you introduced simple delivery. One buyer bought two identical items one got a Royal Mail label, the other got an Evri label.

Re: Simple Delivery or not?

You could always get a business account, you fit the criteria, you would have total control of postage then.
