The last two orders I sent out cost more on the compulsory eBay postage label than if I had used Evri's website myself. Makes a mockery of 'free to sell on eBay' and the claim that their postage rates are discounted.
In the past, depending on the size/shape/weight of my parcel and which drop off I would be passing on a particular day, I would choose the best option between Royal Mail and Evri, and now it seems, perversely, that eBay are selecting the one which will cost me more and then overcharging.
I understand sellers that wanted a fair price for up to 2kg but for those parcels which are under 1kg, I am now paying eg £3.71 rather than £2.94. That's a tidy profit for eBay/Evri and a significant penalty for me.

It is absolutely outrageous. Impossible for small private sellers to sell lower value items now. Totally eating up already small margins.

Fully agree i have always as a seller paid for postage but lately the pre paid labels are costing nearly double to what i paid choosing my own delivery service.
The last couple of sales i have lost money.

I agree, I’d researched evri price beforehand and it was £2.62 for my parcel but I was forced into being charged over £4 through EBay’s compulsory posting system. I put my item up for sale to include free postage so that I might sell it but now I need to increase my product price so I can at least get some profit.

Blimey I was sending cheap parcels via DPD using their app.
I hate the new system and am changing to different platforms now

Margins and profit aren't considerations for private sellers. If those things are an issue the simple answer is you can avoid simple delivery by selling on a business account.

Sorry, on what planet are the inhabitants willing to sell things at a loss?

Most sales by private sellers are technically 'sold at a loss' as personal possessions tend to sell for less than they cost in the first place.
If someone buys to sell at a profit they are a business.

or if someone is growing plants or cuttings they should also be registered as a business..........
Also
. Because selling online is considered a "distance contract" or commercial activity, it falls under Defra regulations, requiring all plant material for planting (including cuttings) to have a passport, regardless of whether you are a business or individual

Wild to post that when the the Business Seller Policy exists
though I agree they don’t ’make you’ they clearly statr when you should have a business seller account.
What an eBay ‘Manager’ says to you is irrelevant. Whoever an eBay ‘Manager’ is.
