Recent Changes to ebay charges

Hello all Private sellers

For a lot of private sellers, selling off old collections & items owned by deceased parents etc. please do not bother to reply with the suggestion of opening a Business account it's not appropriate.

As most private sellers have found in recent months, it has been much harder to sell items on Ebay.

The main problem is the introduction of a Buyer Protection Fee of 75p + 4% per item; which is ok on items over £10, but items such as postcards & small items under 100 gms  weight, with a value between £1 & up to £10, its proved almost impossible to sell.

Ebay have listened to the problem & today have changed the Buyer Protection Fee to a much more reasonable pricing system, starting at 10p + 7%. Great you may say! but unfortunately at the same time they have announced the Simple Delivery will be applied to ALL items from the 6th August, even items you are selling at present on eBay will be adjusted. So in future, a postcard you can send for 0.87p 2nd class letter & a small item under 100gms  large letter 2nd class at £1.55, will now cost £2.70 by Simple Delivery. No other option.

Ebay trying to make things better have actually made things a whole lot worse.

Ebay do listen to people who bother to write in so if this concerns you I urge you to contact Ebay & let them know your feelings.

If Simple Delivery for these smaller items was cheaper and more realistic to the actual cost, this would solve the issue I believe.

(For those with suggestions to open a Business account being the answer - this is not an option for a lot of private sellers)
