I hadn't been notified that the so-called "Simple Postage" was now automatic. The two most recent items I sold, I just wrote the address on the envelope in the usual manner and got the tracking number from the Post Office. When I tried to enter the tracking number on the eBay site, I found some meaningless random tracking number had been inserted and no way to insert the correct tracking number.
After Googling around, I figured out that this dysfunction must be the badly-named "Simple Postage". So, the postage was paid twice. The postage paid by the buyer was snatched by eBay and not forwarded to me. And then I had to pay the actual postage at the Post Office. I tried to cancel the Simple Postage label, but it just says it can't be cancelled. As there is no such thing as Customer Service at eBay, I have no means of requesting a refund of the postage.
To add insult to injury, I now have to wait extra weeks to be receive the actual payment for the items, because the fictional tracking made up by Simple Postage will never actually be delivered. While the real package with the real tracking will be delivered to the buyer.
This is an outrageous con. Which could have been avoided by eBay telling buyers about this change rather than wait for us to stumble into it.
