Postage Charges

I have sold three items to different people today which were sold including postage (UK 2nd Class Small Letter). But the final bill created by ebay includes a postage charge of 95p to the buyers. Looking at the Order there is a message "Buyer selected postage service Other 48h courier".  All 3 appear to have opted for this. I can only assume that I am doing something wrong.  Can anyone put my mind at rest? Please

Re: Postage Charges

Don't know but you also have about 9 active listings with 95p postage on currently.

Most likely explanation is you listed them this way. Did you e.g. use "Sell similar" from another/someone else items?

Ebay has been changing postage prices when it has moved items to Simple Delivery. Your items mentioned are not Simple Delivery. It's possible ebay tried to move them to SD and then move them back to custom postage - but I've not heard anyone else reporting it, so no particular reason to think it has for you.

I suggest you fix the 9ish active items if you don't like OC48hr.

Re: Postage Charges

Also some of your more expensive unused stamps are listed with Simple Delivery.

Stamps which are still valid for postage are prohibited from SD>

Re: Postage Charges

Good Morning
Thank you for your email. I have not sold on eBay for some time until recently
Lesson learned and made adjustments as advised.
Thanks again

Re: Postage Charges

It looks like you still have simple delivery on your  OOR WULLIE stamps. (Also on your double headed stamps but you could argue that they cannot be used for postage.)

Re: Postage Charges

If I list  stamps for sale which are valid for postage at £9, then I can charge my preferred rate of 87p 2nd Class. I have the option for SD.I appreciate there is a threshold at £10.00
If i amend the item to a selling price of £11, Ebay changes the postage so that I can no longer use my preferred rate. The only option is now SD at £2.62.
But according to the rules, I cannot use SD for Stamps over £10.
Confused or what. Makes no sense to me

Re: Postage Charges

I've not seen any official "answer" to this. I think I've heard other people say in some subcategories of e.g. jewellery it automatically "detects" prohibited items and offers custom postage.

For valid stamps, you can follow this procedure I suggested many months ago- https://community.ebay.co.uk/t5/Seller-Central/Simple-Delivery-failed-now-a-test-case-worried/m-p/78... but note whilst some people have received unused SD label refunds, some haven't/it's taking a long time [in general, not this specific prohibited items scenario.]

Or you could try listing as an oversized item which brings up the custom postage option. Look in the forums for threads about sending large items and Rick's 2 procedures.

If ebay are ever unhappy about it, tell them the item is SD prohibited and ask them to publish the correct procedure on the website - and let us know! thanks
