Do eBay use the QR/barcode number to track Royal Mail Standard 1st/2nd Class services?

**reposted from member to member support**

Should Sellers add the QR/barcode number to sales dispatched using Standard Royal Mail 1st and 2nd Class service?  eBay does not automatically add it when you generate a label.

It is not clear if this tracking number is used by eBay.  Some of my sales show 'Delivered', others don't.

According to Royal Mail Tracking this number:

- Is not an end to end tracking number (therefore it is not advertised as a tracked service)
- Will only confirm delivery (assuming the postie scans the QR code)

I'm concerned that by adding the number to each sale then my Service Metrics will be impacted in the event that the postie does not scan the label on delivery (there would be no proof of despatch or delivery).

Or does eBay ignore the number altogether and instead rely on Seller feedback? What if the seller does not give feedback, does eBay assume that the item was delivered was on time?

Hi @isell-iphone ,

Thank you for your post.

Royal Mail 1st and 2nd class post  are not tracked services. The QR code would not be a tracking number.  As they are not tracked services Royal Mail usually update only once the items are delivered. Once they update it on their carrier site it updates over to eBay. This is why you may have instances where some show delivered on eBay and some do not as its dependent on what the Royal mail update on their site.

Thank you,

Kat
