Buyer Combining Items But the Postage is Wrong

Hi all

Someone's brought a couple of items and combined then. I offer free post but the problem is the postage is only coming out as £1.69! when it should be at least £2.72.

The order has *relist* marked next to them as well? although the money does seem to have gone through ok and is saying pending.

I have messaged the buyer but wondered if anyone has come across this yet and what would be the best way forward.

If I look at those items, they look to be on Simple Delivery. If so, just use the label.

I think ebay puts Relist against things quite often. If you don't have any more ignore it.

Re: Buyer Combining Items But the Postage is Wrong

Thank you for the reply I hadn't come across the relist message before and wasn't sure about it.

I spoke to the buyer in the end and mentioned that SD had produced a label that was under paid and he would get a bill for the shortfall he's end if I sent them.

He just agreed to cancel them in the end.

Re: Buyer Combining Items But the Postage is Wrong

Just wondered why you think the label was invalid. Did it mention the £1.69 price/size/weight on?

If you have a personal eBay account, you’ll most likely be using Simple Delivery. This means the buyer pays for the postage and you’ll be sent a prepaid postage label. You can print this yourself or ask the Post Office team to print it from a QR code. Our branches should accept all parcels, as long as they’re within the service’s maximum weight and dimensions (20 kg and 61 cm x 46cm x 46cm).

Same applies to Evri.

Re: Buyer Combining Items But the Postage is Wrong

Sorry forgot to mention they where listed as free postage so the buyers not paying the postage.

It didn't mention the size or weight only the price of £1.69 where the price should have been £2.72, not a lot I know but there is a fee on top from what I can figure out.

There seems to be mention of eBay picking up the tab but on the over hand RM say they will charge the customer?

That's a handy link, will have a good read of that later.

Is all you see when receiving a label

Re: Buyer Combining Items But the Postage is Wrong

£1.69 is a strange amount. I don't think it's on any published SD list. I would guess that ebay's combined postage AI had somehow come to that figure. I believe the label was valid as-is. It is possible that someone at RM would've thought it wasn't - certainly at the beginning of SD many people reported having to pay surcharges when they shouldn't; but the word seems to have got around most PO and RM places/people now.

Re: Buyer Combining Items But the Postage is Wrong

Yeah pretty sure they would have gone through the postal system but its just unclear who picks up the tab at end. Will keep an eye out to see if anyone else comes across the same situation to see what the outcome is.

The only thing I can think of in the mean time is just avoiding free post and see how things go with the postage added on.

Thanks for the help 👍
