£1500 gone. Missing parcel.

I ordered a camera for £1500 and never received it. In a nutshell, Parcelforce first marked it as delivered, but the proof photo was taken in some random place. The next day they updated the proof photo to actually show my door, but when I got back from work, the parcel wasn’t there.

I tried to contact the seller and Parcelforce several times but got no response at all. eBay said that if the seller couldn’t provide proof of delivery which in this case must include a signature then the case would be resolved in my favor. Instead, they did the opposite and closed the case.

I even went to the police station to ask what I could do, but they only told me to check with my neighbors and said there wasn’t much else they could do.

For me, this is a huge loss. I sold my old camera and added half from my savings to buy this one. Now I have no camera, no money, and eBay doesn’t even want to discuss it.

Is there anything I can do?

Take it up with eBay again (contact customer services). If needed, refer the customer services agent to their own policy (https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/policies/member-behavior-policies/signature-confirmation-policy?id=5154), which states the seller isn’t covered if the “buyer reports an item not received”, for an item of £450 or more, and they have not used a signature confirmation method of delivery.
