Unable to access funds

Hi,

had an issue with my eBay account for a while. Had the error message when trying to withdraw funds that account on file was ineligible for selling costs - I didn’t have any overdue selling costs and it was the same account I’ve used for 15 years. Spoke to eBay support and they weren’t much help.

Tried everything like deleting that bank account and adding a new one for selling costs, that didn’t work. I tried re-adding the account, going on incognito mode, clearing my cookies/cache, trying on a Mac browser, etc etc.

I think there’s a bug in eBay’s system for me that won’t allow me to add an account for selling costs and that’s why I can’t access my funds. This is really frustrating as I need access to that money.

can someone take a look at my account and perhaps reset it in some way?

This is a member to member forum - we are other buyers and sellers like you and can't look at your account.

Deleting your bank account, trying to add a different one etc. is probably now the issue.

Try again to add your account.

Make sure your account name exactly matches your Ebay name.

Ebay may have to send micro deposits etc.  If this doesn't work, you will need to speak to support again.

From the Payments tab - opens in new window or tab in Seller Hub, or Payments - opens in new window or tab in My eBay, you can see which bank account is currently set up...

To update your bank account for payouts:

  1. Go to Payments in Seller Hub or My eBay.
  2. Select Delete under your existing payout bank account. (You need to delete this bank account before adding a new one as you can only have one bank account on file for payouts.)
  3. Select Add.
  4. Select Log in to my bank or Enter manually and then follow the instructions provided.

You can also update your payout account by selecting Add cards and accounts, then choosing Payouts. The new bank account you add will replace your existing payout bank account.

It usually takes 2 business days for changes to be confirmed and payouts to be enabled for your new bank account.

Unable to access funds

Hi yungbhoy, thanks for your post.

I've just checked for you, and it looks like your funds are not being held anymore, and you've managed to initiate a payout today, so going forward it is all good. If you need further assistance on this, I'd recommend contacting our customer service team as we wouldn't be able to provide much assistance over here due to the nature of your query and privacy and security reasons.

Thank you,

Marco

You are correct,  there does seem to be an issue some are experiencing you are not alone!

However, it would help if it was known which device and browser you are using.

If the app that is suffering more than its usual glitches,  so if using this,  switch if you can to a laptop /PC and try Chrome that seems to work well with eBay.

If payouts are Available,  see if you can withdraw from there,  worth a try!

Same in here, "Ineligible for selling costs", the money sits there inaccessible for years despite no selling, hence no overdue fees.  Please resolve.

You haven't used your account for a very long time,  so sudden selling activity raises red flags to eBay as the account could be hacked,  eBay wish to see that the genuine owner has returned, so a hold will be placed on your payouts,  it's a good security measure,  you wouldn't want anyone selling and receiving payouts from your account.

Have you registered for eBay's Managed Payments?  Your bank account here may need re confirming usually with the sending of 2 micro deposits to be confirmed back to eBay.

This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/help/selling/getting-paid/introducing-managed-payments-ebay?id=4795

If there is an issue with the registration contact eBay Customer Services,  who have full access to your account,  and can see where the issue lies and explain the steps you now need to take.

Contact them this way.

I strongly recommend contacting CS 8 a.m. on a weekday when the lines open for ' live agents' as then, there's more chance of Dublin answering.

This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/help/eua?id=5190

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays

9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.

Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.

Hi there,

I’ve recently opened a new bank account, closed the old one and added the new one to EBay but it’s coming up with the ineligible for selling costs message too.

How did you go about resolving this?

Thanks.

Hi alyo4448, thanks for your reply.

Is your new account a current account, and from a high street bank? As in, a regular retail bank with physical branch networks? If it is a saving account, or certain online banks, this might not work for you.

Thank you,

Marco
