The new pay out rules that are supposed to hit the uk Feb 4th 2025 have pushed me over the edge.
They even tried to implement them on me today , I sold an expensive item & they wanted to hold my funds until 2 days after delivery has been confirmed ...
I contacted the buyer , cancelled the sale & hit them up on facebook & they bought the item off me directly . All my items on my 2 accounts are coming off & I'm closing my accounts in favour or FB marketplace & hobby groups .
I have no confidence in this system or the shipping companies to do this correctly . I've had 3 items sent to me this week by a tracked service which were all delivered but the system still says that they are in transit . Hopefully the people i purchased from have been paid out but if they have been subjected to the same i have today they wont get their money..
I called to complain & the customer service rep said that is i sold something & tracking wasnt updated then id have to wait a MONTH to get paid.
Absolutely Laughable.
Im out !

It’s more than ridiculous now.
As a private seller, selling items that are mostly under £10, not only are my buyers hit with higher postage costs ( if I send the items via a tracked service), they are now expected to pay a buyer protection fee.
I’ve just been through all of my listings to see how I can help to make this less expensive for the buyer but of course, I’ll be the one to lose out. Meanwhile, eBay gets a nice fat earner.
I think that eBay is forgetting how the private sellers have added to eBay’s profits over the years. This is now a big kick in the teeth for all private sellers! I’ll be leaving as soon as I can!

As a private seller, selling items ...
This latest announcement may help you if you are selling items for under £10 .
We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedback. This will be live by the end of February.
Yep, I know, most buyers do not leave feedback, and I would never usually recommend this, but sending the buyer a polite message, asking if they would kindly leave some feedback, explaining with eBay's new rules, payouts from sales are not released until a buyer leaves feedback. I would add, only ask the once, you do not want to harass a buyer.
Think most buyers then would leave some ?

So now sellers have to hassle their customers to leave feedback just so they can be paid?
Ebay is getting greedy - as if the company doesn't make enough money already!
I'm switching to a different marketplace as soon as I can!
