Why the heck has eBay changed the payment rules yet again? Are they trying to mimic another selling site with the same unfair policies?
After reading some comments on this subject, one reply to a member, who stated that they couldn't afford to fork out postage costs and wait until their parcel had been delivered before receiving payment (which I totally agree with), was "if that strapped for cash then really shouldn't be selling on eBay". What nonsense! In that case one wold just take items to a charity shop or bin them! The whole point of selling on eBay, I thought, was to make a bit of money, if financially well off then why bother?
I was about to start listing items for sale again, I'm trying to clear out my life of possessions because Yes, I do need the money and also because I'd like to make life a little easier for my family to cope with when I pop my clogs! I also donated a percentage of sales to charities that I think are very worthwhile but undervalued , and in need of help.
I'm really disappointed with eBay, the new rules, I think are going to affect lots of members and most likely eBay's reputation and profits too!

I agree with xps-technics , this new rule will create more headaches for us sellers , and a bigger workload for their customer helpline … it really is a big step backward for ebay …

Iv removed all my listing's. No way can I afford to pay postage upfront the wait for it to be delivered..thats of course if we are informed it's delivered therefore meaning our payment is held for 2 weeks.. Absolute joke

I want to know where the money is for the 4/5 days after the buyer pays. I have strong suspicions it is in an Ebay holding account earning them a fortune in interest. It's a really dumb process.

Firstly as a private seller I'm unhappy with this change. I currently have £300 of funds sitting somewhere on hold until 2 days have passed from "confirmed delivery"?! Why? Items delivered tracking confirms this.
My postage costs have always been buyer pays so my integrated postage choice comes off the balance (not directly from my bank or upfront). So that is not an issue.
My issue is having to wait 48 hours from delivery to my funds being available....the whole point of selling on here was to get away from the "v**nted" method of sell ...delivery...await confirmation...payment release if you're lucky....yet it appears ebay have followed suit.
Unless you want to become a business seller. Pay fees etc then instant payment....but been there done that not doing it again.
Smacks of pushing sellers to other sites and/or to become business sellers. Either way they're making money on our money. And it's unfair!

It's utterly ridiculous, not everyone has spare cash to pay postage upfront
especially if like me I often post 4 or 5 at a time, that's a lot of money.
We then have to hope the item is delivered which often does not happen
thereby meaning us as sellers accumulate the costs 😡
eBay did post this announcement a few days ago:
Pending funds can also be used to buy postage labels and refund buyers.

All my postage costs have been taken directly off the payments made by the buyer so I don't have any upfront costs. The total showing which will become available to me eventually clearly shows my shipping has been taken off the sale...I don't offer free postage at all. I use integrated ebay shipping which makes it less stressful but again still having to used a tracked service which I prefer anyway...so I'm not sure why you are losing money via upfront costs unless you are sending yourself and or offering free postage. If so may be worth looking into using eBay postage to save you having to pay upfront.

I use RM and I don't have my postage taken it's included in the full amount that's in pending.

Are you buying it directly from royal mail then? I send 48 hour tracked yet mine is being taken off my balance ...
maybe worth looking into ebay shipping options so you don't have to pay it directly

No, buyers pays and it goes in my pending balance and until the new rule was available to withdraw the following day

What EBay are doing is illegal. The money isn't theirs it is the sellers money. If I sell a car at a car auction the money paid is mine, not the car auction house. If they withhold it from me that is theft.

Yes it is that.. read up on the BPF terms and conditions as well as SD and the Holding of funds: they have"tied" it up... basically.... they all run into one another, if that makes sense, in order for them to do this on private sellers.

I've had sent items on tracked 48 hr delivery that have not been delivered by royal mail. Not royal mails fault, the buyer wasn't in. It went back to the local sorting office for collection or reschedule delivery. They didn't bother to collect the item as it was to far away and the royal mail tried again to deliver, unfortunately they wasn't in. A month later the parcel turned up back at my house and the buyer asking for a refund. I refunded the buyer no worries. But under the new system my goods would have been dispatched with all the best intentions, lost in the system for over a month, and my money with it. This needs to be compensated. I refuse to use Everi because of how many losses I've had, and the pathetic claims systems. This new policy is a hassle to far. I already compensate for delivery costs now I have to compensate for buyer protection to compete with ebay business sellers. Poor eBay ,very poor.

So I lost my temper with ebay rep yesterday...nothing will change.
Having had sales and waiting on payment which cleared.today after nearly a week.
😞Disappointed to see that all my later sales postage costs had been as I thought they would had been taken off this payment making it smaller.than it would have been had it stayed the same way.
Yes my balance is correct but previously sold item print postage payment off the total and payout to bank . Now it takes off all your postage at once. It's okay if you don't sell a lot but it mounts up when you have a few flurries of sales.
It could mean that if you sell an item and it's delivered and whilst you wait for it to clear you sell.more items....you could eventually end up in deficit due to this.
Having been on here for over 30 years in one incarnation or another as both a business and now private seller. It's a debacle aimed at making money off interest held from making us wait. And its a kick for little sellers who may rely on that little extra .

Bloody diabolical.... I offered postage on an item due to it being local. So changed a delivery charge to cover fuel in total the item was £380. I delivered it Sunday and got them to immediately write me needed back.
Ebay have said because I didn't use a collection code (I delivered) they are holding the funds until the 22nd Feb.
They had the item Sunday, so currently I have no item and no funds but positive feedback for the item!!! YOU WOULDNT GET AWAY WITH IT AT TESCOS!! It's tantamount to FRAUD EBAY!! also you currently have £950 of my money all items been dispatched!!. NOT HAPPY and you ont give 2 flying F**KS when I call you!! Just computer says NO.

Yep well Royalmail is privatised now so this will happen more and more!! Exactly the same has happened to me, in fact I had to refund a parcel recently that tracking never materialised!! It's the seller once again that's being constantly penalised by Ebay
