Permanently suspended - funds on hold

My account has been suspended, with all products delivered, yet all of my funds are on hold (around £500)

I spoke to eBay, and I was told I'd have to wait '170 days or more' to receive my funds. Has anyone else experienced this? Did you get your funds eventually? And does anyone have any advice on how to tackle this situation?

Thank you in advance

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Thanks for the message, it’s genuinely much appreciated. I completely agree with you. eBay advisors are honestly a mess  one told me I’d never receive my money, another just made up random dates that made no sense.

On top of that, I raised a serious GDPR and data breach issue that was initially brushed off. I received a message from a suspicious number claiming they suspended my account, and they somehow knew my full name, the exact amount I had pending, and had my phone number. That’s personal information I’ve never shared together anywhere, so it was that something is amiss.

When I flagged it to an advisor, they outright told me it wasn’t even remotely possible for someone at eBay to be involved. It wasn’t until I called again that someone finally agreed to escalate it and log it as a report. The fact that I had to push just to get a potential breach taken seriously is unacceptable. The person who contacted me even attempted to bribe me, saying they could release my funds early if I made a payment.

Again, I appreciate you sharing the timeline, it’s good to know the funds will be released despite everything.

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Hi,

That doesn’t sound accurate. eBay cannot keep your £2,500 just because the government told them to, unless there is a court order or legal notice.

If you haven’t been formally notified of any investigation or legal action, then eBay is holding your funds based on their own policy, not because of government instruction.

It would be great if you had proof of eBay actually stating it was a government order, because if that’s not true and no legal notice exists, then they’ve provided false information, which could be considered misleading and potentially unlawful under UK law.

Hope that helps…

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Wow, Very disturbing thread.. Multiple sellers without access to their many thousands

of pounds of sales.  One mentioned £12,000, another £7,000 & another £2,500.

Is this some sort of AI mistake flagging accounts ?

Including:
Date of sales.
Tracking numbers.
Images from original sales.
Item numbers.
Feedbacks from happy customers.
Invoices.
Bank account.
Plus 8 years loyalty on another account with over 3000 sales 100% positive
feedback.
Ebay account;

The only thing I don't have is the original mobile device I used with the
email.

I've lost the money and its over £1200

If that’s the case then maybe look at taking it to small claims… Plus be wary as they may restrict your other account…

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Hey danny sorry to hear about your situation, i have alot of information about how ebay works, i know all the ins and outs. Has your account been permenentely suspended. If it hasnt, then you wont be getting your money. It has to get permenentely suspended and then you will get the funds like 2-3 months later. When my account got restricted, i knew the game was up, once they restrict your account with the MC011 restriction you will never get it back. So i went into live chat and threatened them will legal action and i insulted the representative, this isnt ideal obviously but this should get your account permenentely suspended (hopefully) and then you will get your funds. Have you been permenentely suspended, because if you have then i dont have an answer as to why you havent got your money yet.

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Hi,

I was just reading the information you shared earlier about your eBay accounts. You mentioned that your 3 suspended accounts eventually had their payouts released, and you explained how eBay typically processes payouts for permanently suspended accounts. According to your experience, eBay releases funds on the first Tuesday of January, April, July, and October, but only if the account has been suspended for at least 60 days by that time.

I fully understood your point. In my case, my eBay account was permanently restricted from selling by eBay. It was registered under a UK Ltd company, but I was selling on the US marketplace, in collaboration with my brother who lives in the US and fulfilled the orders from his home.

Initially, my account was hit with an MC011 restriction, for which I submitted invoices, a bank statement, and even my ID/license. However, without any clear reason, eBay permanently suspended my account on March 9, and since then, my £12,000 remain stuck with eBay.

Today is June 9, which means exactly 90 days have passed since the account was suspended. Many of my friends who also sell on eBay told me that although eBay support says funds are released after 170 days, in practice eBay often releases funds on the 90th day, as long as the conditions are met.

However, I did not receive my payout today.

Now I think your point about eBay releasing funds on the first Tuesday of the relevant quarter might apply to my case – in this case, that would be the first Tuesday of July.

But there's a complication:

After my account was suspended on March 9, three payment disputes were opened on March 23 by buyers via their banks. Unfortunately, I wasn’t actively monitoring the account, so I did not respond in time, and the disputes remained open.

Out of the 3 disputes:

  • One was closed in May (after being open for almost 2 months),

  • Another one was closed just 3 days ago,

  • The third one is still open, and I cannot close it manually – it only shows that eBay is waiting for a response from the buyer's bank.

I spoke to eBay customer support, and they told me to just wait, as they also cannot manually close it.

This makes me 100% sure that I didn’t receive the payout today because the dispute is still open.

So now I have two important questions:

  1. If this dispute remains open until the first Tuesday of July, is it possible that eBay still releases the rest of my funds, and just holds the disputed amount (£15)? For example, could they release £11,985 and keep only £15 on hold?

  2. I've heard that eBay checks within 60 days of account suspension whether any dispute is open. If there is a dispute, they extend the 60-day countdown from the date the latest dispute was opened. And this keeps happening until there have been no disputes opened in the past 60 days.
    Is this true?

Because if that’s the case, then even if my last dispute closes on July 1, eBay might still push the payout forward again, which would be extremely disappointing and difficult for me.

Please answer these two questions in detail if you can. Your help would honestly mean a lot to me – it would give me some mental peace and relief from all the stress I’ve been under due to these stuck funds.

Thank you so much in advance.

Best regards,

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Hi, unfortunately this may be true. I havent been in this situation myself, because I was worried that the same thing would happen me so when i got permenently suspended i just refunded everyone who had a request open and i would have done the same to the disputes, but i didnt have any - this way it gets the countdown going. Honesly i cant say for certain but im leaning towards what you're already thinking, because they always make a point saying 'We place the funds on hold just in case any payments are disputed or any returns requested." Im just trying to make sense of it now, If you look at your payments page, if the majority of the funds are in the available funds section, and then theres a seperate amount which is on hold due to the disputes then you could potentially receive the non disputed amount in july. If not, then it would October. Now this is important, you need to get that dispute closed asap. Call the buyer and offer to refund them, meet them in person and explain the situation, whatever way you can think of but it needs to close. Because if you dont receive your funds in July, then it is cause of the disputes, and if that same dispute isnt closed by the end of July, then you wouldnt receive the money In October aswell. Just to confirm, you didn't receive to money today because of the open disputes, you were never going to receive it on this day dispute open or closed. The 90th day thing is not true, it is a 2month wait after being suspended, then it will be released on the first tuesday of the next quarter : Jan,Apr,Jul and Oct. I had 3 accounts which i was selling on nov-dec 2024. I got the  MC011 and didnt bother with sending any proof of anything because it never works. Then around the start of Jan i got all 3 account permenentely suspended, made sure there were no cases open or disputes and the funds for all 3 accounts were released on April 1st Tuesday, the value was £10500 in total. so you will eventually get back everypenny owed to you. Alot of people here say try to use third parties or even the Financial Ombudsman but they dont work so dont bother trying. Its because in ebays own T&Cs all this would have been explained so they cant help. I hope it all goes well for you

Re: Permanently suspended - funds on hold

Its not making sense to me, have you been permenentely suspended or just restriced? If you've been suspended then you cant buy or sell or message, but with a restriction most of the time you can still buy
