Payout delay - compliance check

Hi everyone,

I’m looking for some advice regarding a payout issue on my eBay account.

it’s now been 18 business days and I still haven’t received my payout which was initiated on 26/03/2026 status is still showing as in progress. eBay support has told me that the delay is due to “compliance checks”and there is a banner about this on the top of the page if I go on to my payments section, I’ve already spoken to my bank and they’ve confirmed there are no checks or pending transactions on their side.

From what I understand, this suggests the hold is still on eBay’s side, but I’m not getting a clear answer on what exactly is being reviewed or how long it will take.

Has anyone experienced something similar?

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

Update:

So after 27 business days I have received the money. I did email Financial Ombudsman around a week ago but they did not respond yet however, someone on Reddit advised emailing the Ebay CEO as he sent him an email and received the money after 12 hours.

So I also emailed the CEO and then received the money after an hour without receiving a reply to my email from the CEO. Could be a coincidence 🤷🏽‍♂️ but still worth a try for anyone facing the same issue

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

Many thanks for the update. I have emailed the CEO however unfortunately I have not received any update from customer service. This is really very poor on behalf of Ebay to delay Customer payouts in a manner that they are doing without any real reason behind it.

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

I don't like these changes. I sold an item for a friend. Royal Mail says it was delivered with a photograph but ebay says the funds are on hold, so I'm not sure if Ebay will allow them to steal it and not give me the money, so I'll have to give my friend my own money.

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

Oh please reflect what you have just said!

Do you believe one of the behemoths , one of the biggest  online marketplace Companies,  would exist if what you purported to happen was true... eBay keeps money, ' steals it'   and the seller has to pay compensation !

Are you a regular seller ,  or one who sells now and then with big breaks ?

This sends red flags to eBay as sudden selling activity could mean a hijacked account,  so money is placed on hold  until they are satisfied the item is received,  and the real owner of the account has returned to sell.

It's a good security measure, nothing has been stolen !

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

Thanks for supporting eBay. Why would they allow a seller to use their money to make eBay purchases but not allow it to be transferred to bank account. With no timeframe no SLA. This is really poor of one of the biggest platforms in the world.

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

The money is not transferred to the member's bank account automatically,    this has to be withdrawn manually.

If you wish to know how to proceed,  and withdraw a payment from a sale,  please come back and ask.

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

Not sure if you have followed my message. I have transferred the money from my Ebay account to my normal bank account that I use with Ebay. There is no timeframe as to when that money will be transferred. I’ve called them several times they don’t have an SLA. Their terms and conditions are not clear and all they’re saying is to wait. In 2026 taking days and days for a small amount of money to be transferred is just unacceptable.

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

I would expect keeping people's money for a long time from untrustworthy companies, not ebay. The changes are bad. They didn't hold on to people's money before. Yeah right, so an account that I've had for years and sold now and again for years with the same bank account, is suddenly seen as an excuse to not give me my money for products I sold? They must have some kind of new graduate with lots of rubbish new ideas making decisions.

Re: Payout delay - compliance check

Exactly doesn’t make sense at all. I am an occasional seller. I buy  more than the few items I have sold over the course of the last 15 years. After selling two items I’m still waiting for my money that I transferred from my Ebay account to my bank account on 16th of April. All excuses no SLA no timeframe no link to terms and conditions. The only feedback is we don’t have feedback!
