I'm a private seller who has been using eBay for many years with a 100% rating. I recently sold my first item under buyer protection/simple delivery. Tracking says the item was delivered but I haven't received the payment which should have arrived on 8 August (yesterday). Will I be notified if the buyer has placed a hold and of the reason? Also, if the buyer isn't satisfied with the item is he obliged to return it? I have a bad feeling about this!
Thanks in advance for any help.

It looks like you have returned to selling after a long break? Your initial payouts then, may be held for a little longer as sudden selling activity on a dormant account raises red flags to eBay, as it could be a sign of a hacked account.
Once the payout is showing as Available in your Payment Summary you do need to manually withdraw it into your bank account, it's not automatically sent there now.
Please come back if you're not sure of that process.

Many thanks Tressy, that's very helpful. If this is the reason It's a shame that eBay didn't point out that the payment might be delayed when they told me the funds would be transferred yesterday. It's true that my last sale was in December last year but I sold about 18 items last year and it would be easy for eBay to verify whether or not my account has been hacked.
I'll wait a couple more days but, for me, this system makes eBay much less attractive. It's unfortunate that it's being forced on private sellers with a good track record.
Thanks again!
Andrew

After a couple of days if the payment is not showing as Available for your tracked and received items, contact eBay Customer Services, provide those tracking numbers showing delivery, and ask if your payout can be released sooner.
I do recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning when the lines first open at 9 a.m. on weekends and 8 a.m. on weekdays, as there's more chance of Dublin answering. It's a Call Back option, so you'll hear if it's the dulcet tones from the Emerald Isles! 🤗 Only speak to them !
There has been an announcement that from 6th August items sold and buyer pays, and accounts in good standing with no defects in last 12 months, and a total of £150 sales in past 5 years, then payouts will be released within 24 hours, welcome news !
This is the easiest and quickest way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open 8 a.m. - 10 p.m. on weekdays
9 a.m. - 6 p.m. on weekends.
Automated agents will be available on chat outside of the above hours.
As said, I do recommend contacting CS first thing in the morning as there's more chance of Dublin answering.

Thanks again Tressy, I'll remember that. The payment came through just before I was about to phone. It would help if eBay gave a range of dates for payment rather than specifying a date. I was a bit nervous based on comments made by the buyer after he'd won the auction. Andrew

Good news to hear your payout is through ! 🤗
That is a good idea for a range of dates to be given too, as many come here asking why, when told on *** day their payment is available, and they find it isn't. 🤔

I expect it's in the small print somewhere but as a male I barely read instructions for gadgets let alone small print. I've just realised that a watch I bought years ago is worth selling, will have to decide whether eBay is the best way to sell it.
Incidentally, I accidentally tagged one of my replies as the best solution when it should have been one of yours, obviously. Don't seem to be able to undo it!
