New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

I dont know if any private seller have noticed this. {Bottom in box}

But if i have read this right. You sell something, and when the buyer confirms they have recived the item, which would by feedback i presume, You then get paid two days after they confirm delivery.

eBay does not seem to have taken into account that a lot of sellers never leave feedback, even when reminded. So thats bad news for sellers, i guess you dont get paid.

On the plus side for eBay. They have got the buyers money. So if they dont have to pay you because the buyer wont leave feedback. Profits going up.

I also note this only applies to private sellers in the UK.

Now, to give your buyers even more confidence when shopping, UK-based private sellers will be paid after item delivery, from 4 Feb. Your funds will be available in your eBay balance two days after delivery confirmation.*** We know it's important to get your money fast, so we recommend using a tracked delivery service either through Simple Delivery, or arranging for local collection.

Yes, this is what I do. I don't think you can book the collection if you use the eBay interface though, I haven't used that interface in a long while, you have to register to https://parcel.royalmail.com/ and link to your eBay account, it will display the orders, you can choose the type of postage, pay, then book collection and ask for labels. It's what I used to do when I started, then I found it more convenient to buy a second hand zebra printer.

I wonder how many sellers will leave eBay because this, watch this space.

There's no way that eBay can spin this to be acceptable to sellers.  And I wonder whether they are earning interest on our earnings that they are withholding.

Doubt any figures will be announced.

A miniscule number of members compared to eBay's worldwide membership,  come to these boards .

Those who say here they are leaving, is no indication overall,  how many  actually will be packing their bags.

I wonder if eBay are starting to get worried about the amount of sellers/buyers leaving, and that is why they are only rolling out BPF in Electronics tomorrow, with other categories being added 'in the coming weeks'?

It certainly has everyone wondering why just one category is specified, that's for sure !

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

Indeed, plus the change to untracked low value items having payment hold removed after feedback.

Why have these lyrics  suddenly popped into my head?!

Looked at myself, and all that I could say
Was, "I think I see the errors of my way"

Maybe they have?

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

I have a lot of friends who sell low value items who are no longer selling
because of this.forcing people into paying for tracked delivery is not cost
effective amd they have to wait 14 days for payment. Its ridiculous. This
will hit ebay hard

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

You do know vinted also have a buyer fee, manged delivery and make the seller wait 3 days after it has been delivered.

So no difference really.

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

But there is a difference if you don’t  send your package via a tracked system. You have to wait 14 days for payment…that’s my point.

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

No difference? You get paid within two days of delivery. The only …. ONLY … edge eBay had was faster payments. That is gone. These are underhanded tactics to hold onto YOUR money.

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

I'm just pointing out vinted and ebay using the same system, and on vinted you only get paid when the buyer says and you don't use integrated carrier  they have it so could be a month or longer

You are in the buyers hands if you do not use vinteds system of integrated tracking.

So if your on ebay why move over to vinted why not use BOTH.

We’ve also heard your feedback and understand that shipping costs are particularly top of mind for low price items. When you’re selling a single item for £10 or less, and it’s sent untracked, funds will now be available 24 hours after you receive positive buyer feedbackThis will be live by the end of February.

Yep,  I know many do not leave feedback and I would never usually recommend asking a buyer for feedback, but if the payout is needed to be released sooner,  I think a polite message to the buyer to please leave some feedback and explaining the reason why,  you may not get everyone agreeing, but  I cannot see that many would refuse.

Many thanks for a work around to the problem  again Tressygirl, a simple message to the buyer could help, its only the sellers time being used (or abused)- assuming the un-reliable ebay message system allows the message to go thru .

But in fairness 'work arounds' are generally  to compensate for incompetent or ill thought through systems which the sellers are paying ebay employees to devise.

Do they not check what they create or simply rush to get it operational - (the current issues on the apps perfectly illustrate this) ?

Why should members have to constantly report problems in great detail, and maybe a 'Tech Team' may 'look into it' in time. Isnt that role really down to the designers and maintenance of the process?

Re: New Rules for uk sellers 4th Feb

So i have sold a item the other day was a old ticket. sent it with a second class stamp. Because ebay print out postage  slips get lost and the ebay tracking dosnt work on the slips . The post office don't scan it. I have emailed the buyer to leave me feedback. So I will be waiting 10 more days now. So we live in a world where money is tight and we are getting treated like dirt.oh and the buyer could say it didn't turn up and I wouldn't get paid. Where as before least I had my money. So my message to ebay is your a bunch of see you next Tuesdays.
