Hi,
I am very stressed with Ebay at the moment. As a first-time seller it's gone down the drain, i got £112 put into my account after a successful purchase and delivery with a good review, to suddenly my card not verifying even though Santander GB (My bank) gives me the green light and says oh yeah we don't have any blocks or issues, feel free to link it up, so got a green light from the bank, but the second i tap the checkbox and then BOOM "can't verify" so i reached out to support, they said my card was added to the allowlist so i try again, guess what? same error.
So i contacted them today to get this response:
"Shaun, I have checked the details carefully and would like to share that eBay is required by regulators to ensure that all financial instruments used on our site are fully verified with no concerns. In this instance our systems have detected an incompatibility with your current bank due to which you are receiving this error. There are many different sources from which we may receive information for financial instruments."
I'm like, wait what? so they added my account to the allowlist, which should already indicate it's fine, my card is accepted on checkout and other options, but it can't authorise or verify my card for payouts. A bit suspicious? or weird? like it's a Santander Debit Current Account, it shouldn't be throwing back errors at me.
But the real question is:
- Can Ebay Customer Support fix this?
- Are they going to keep my money? and leave me with nothing?
- How far can they push to get the funds released?
Many thanks.
Shaun

Hi shaunking, thank for your post.
Can I just confirm that you're entering your actual bank details? Bank account numbers, and card numbers are different, so if you're entering your card number, that's where the issue might be. If this is what you are doing, please try entering the actual bank account number to see if it works. If it doesn't please let me know, and I will take a look to see if I can give you a hand over here.
Thank you,
Marco

They don't verify a card for payouts they verify a bank.
Are you sure that your bank details exactly match your ebay account, particularly your name?

Yes, i tap bank account and i tap santander and then it goes through my bank and gives a "that's it from us!" meaning it verified on the bank end. but the second it comes through Ebay. Ebay is like "Nope".
the address is the same as on my ebay account and name too. will ebay still try to help me release my funds? in other ways?
I'm nervous thinking they will keep my funds!
Many thanks
Shaun

Are you properly registered as a Seller ?... Something in the account setup is missing or incomplete >

Apps can often be very unreliable ... suggest using a PC/Laptop to recheck settings including Current UK Banking account and Card details on file in order to send and receive payments through Managed Payments. >

The only thing that is missing or the system says is missing is the details for the payouts, i go onto the seller dashboard, and it's in red, saying please update - so i tap to update and it takes me straight to the add bank account for payouts, and account details, sort code, etc. Everything else is fine. So i am properly set up.

If you are still seeing that red banner ' please update' then your bank account has not been verified.
My guess, ( only a guess), is that 2 micro deposits have been sent to you, and you missed them, to report them back to eBay. They are tiny, only a few pence each, and easily missed, or easily incorrectly added.
This leaves your bank account registered, but not verified. eBay have to be 100% sure they have the correct account to send your payouts too.
Contact eBay Customer Services to send you 2 more micro deposits. They are not sent instantly mine took a few days to appear. As said you need to then check your bank account regularly for those few pence deposits, report them back to eBay, and then you're all set to receive payouts from sales.
This is the easiest and quicket way to contact eBay Customer Services, for a Call Back option.

Lines open between 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on weekdays.
9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends.
I recommend contacting CS very first thing in the morning, when the lines first open, as there's more chance of Dublin answering.
