rights when the seller has left ebay

I recently bought a DVD that has proved to be unplayable. The seller appears to have left eBay and the I can't find any information on the eBay site as to what to do in these circumstances. I suspect that I have been ripped off.  I doubt that there is much that I can do but any advice would be welcomed.

They will have been suspended by ebay.   It's not possible to close accounts after recent transactions.   If the item is still on your purchase list you can try a "not as described" return.   eBay may refund without the need to return.

How can we help you when all you tell us is that the seller has "left eBay!?

What sort of item was it, and price range? When and how did you pay, was the seller a private seller or a business seller, were they registered in the UK or abroad? Any rights you may have will depend on all of these.
