a really silly question, but i'm relatively new to ebay.  anyway a seller is going to give me a partial refund on something i purchased. where will the ££ show up and will i get a notification that it has arrived ?

It will be sent back to your payment source - Paypal, credit card, bank account.

As long as the refund is processed through Ebay, you will get an email to your Ebay messages confirming the refund.

Was it a faulty item?

Sellers do sometimes promise partial refunds which are never actually sent and buyers are left out of time to return the item for a full refund.

Thanks jckl1957  it was sort of faulty, but not sufficiently so to warrant returning the item. the seller has been extremely helpful and offered the partial refund as compensation.
