refund for wrong item sent

I received a different item to the one purchased from the listing, and returned it for a refund the following day,  following the instructions posted by ebay for requesting a refund, ie printing a label, packing it, and taking it to the post office, where the label was scanned and a receipt issued. 

Ebay stated that the refund would be issued as soon as the package was scanned at the post office.

This has not happened. Does anyone know how long it normally takes, please?

Refund is usually issued after the item is tracked as being delivered back with the seller.

Did you open a Not as described case?  If so seller supplies the reply tracked label.

Did you pay for label?

In either case refunds are made by seller on receipt, if not you have to escalate to ebay after 3 days.

Where are you seeing this?

The seller has to receive their item back before any refund is made.

I had an email from Ebay stating that the refund would be made as soon as the Post Office scanned the label on it's return trip.
This prompted my question...
