"lifetime Warranty"

Hi,

I had bought an item on 12 Sep, 2022, (Order number:19-09090-58411) the advert said "Lifetime Warranty". It has now failed, batteries have died.

"Digital Cordless Car Tyre Inflator Pump Portable 150PSI Air Compressor LED Light" - Item number: 354181850565

I have contacted the seller but am being ignored, the seller  is still active. - what can I do?

Have you a customer service email or disputes email I can contact?

Thanks, Tony.

"lifetime Warranty"

You cannot report this to eBay as they do not offer warranties or guarantees on items, just that they are just as described on receipt.  If they are not,  a buyer has 30 days under eBay's 30 day MBG,  Money Back Guarantee policy,  to return the item for a full refund.

If you bought this from a Private seller you are too late to claim a refund.  You're far too late to turn to your payment provider,  too.

If purchased from a registered UK business, who offered a guarantee and is now not upholding this,  then turn to Citizens Advice for your next steps,  if you wish to take this further.

Just write it off and buy a new battery.

eBay will not get involved in warranty claims.

The reality is that warranties on eBay should be assumed to be worthless. Sellers often claim a warranty, but don't want to know when items go wrong. Even manufacturers' warranties are liable to be invalid for items bought on eBay.

If this was a UK business seller you might in theory still have some statutory consumer rights, but enforcing them against distant, uncooperative eBay sellers is likely to be futile. If the seller is registered abroad even this option won't be available.

When you registered on eBay you accepted the user agreement, which warns buyers that "eBay does not guarantee the existence, quality, safety or legality of items advertised, or the truth or accuracy of descriptions". Would you have bought this from a shop that said this?

In any case, nobody would give a lifetime guarantee for batteries. They're probably replaceable, but as so often today it's cheaper to buy a whole new item.
