I’ve just noticed this in the new rules re payouts.
* For untracked deliveries, or tracked deliveries with no delivery confirmation, funds will become available 14 calendar days from the order date *
* For untracked, single-quantity, single-item orders priced £10 or less, funds will be available after positive feedback is received from the buyer, or 14 days from the order date, whichever comes first *
if funds for Untracked items under £10 will be available if the buyer leaves positive feedback meaning they’ve received the item.
Then surely the same rule should apply to Tracked items whereby the courier fails to update the tracking but the buyer leaves positive feedback.
Makes sense to me (here’s me thinking tracking is best) clearly not in this situation).
Aware if no positive feedback the wait time is still 14 days re untracked or failed tracking

I know it’s the couriers fault if tracking isn’t updated. I’m not blaming eBay for that at all, however sometimes tracking shows delivered on the delivery website but not on EBay’s website, surely re that it’s not the delivery companies fault unless here’s electronic failures/website down which does happen occasionally.
Anyway that’s not the point I’m making, errors happen and sometimes things don’t sync.
The point I’m making is that ebay has introduced a newer unfair, unbalanced rule.
It’s nothing to do with who’s to blame for tracking failures.

The ebay site is having issues with there tracking updating on site, which isn't helping sellers get there payments, but if items are sent tracked, and the postal services website shows an item as delivered, ebay can release the funds if you contact them.
As for feedback, many buyers no longer leave feedback so to include that as an option for payment release really wouldn't work.
Hopefully when the site updates its tracking facility things should improve

Hi, plum993, thanks for your reply and I understand what you’re saying tire not many people leaving feedback now but clearly eBay have just added this either by realising an oversight or receiving complaints.
My friend has found themselves in this situation whereby tracking has failed but the buyer has left great feedback, yet there will be no pay out for 14 days despite positive feedback menaing the item has been delivered.
Therefore if my friend had sent the item untracked because positive feedback has been received she would have been paid out after the feedback.
to me that’s a contradictory rule and very unfair with regards to people trying to ensure delivery is recorded via tracking

When ebay set those rules they were not anticipating the issues with the tracking.
26-02-2025 5:54 PM
Agree but they should have considering they’re aware theres a considerable amount of items delivered where tracking isn’t updated.
The previous way re payouts was much much better.
I imagine they’re inundated with people contacting them re situations like this, hence why they’ve brought in the untracked rule but for some bazaar reason overlooked failed tracked deliveries and unfortunately sometimes but likely rare untracked on eBay is still untracked with the delivery company but a buyer leaving positive feedback should be enough to release funds.
EBay could also send an auto message to the buyer to confirm delivery also if they’re in doubt

What you say may make sense.
But ebay are very unlikely to change the new rules.
Lower value items have less risk of being scammed.
Most buyers will soon let you know if item does not arrive on time.

Ebay is full of contradictions, if a buyer leaves feedback, they can still open a not received case as in eBay’s opinion they may have left feedback by mistake, or for the wrong seller.
Therefore if for low value items, eBay are prepared to accept feedback as proof of delivery, seller cannot assume that a case for Not Received under the 30 day money back guarantee cannot be opened.

Yes you’re more than likely correct they won’t change payments back but they could make it fair for all sellers.
The point I’m making is re the newer rule that’s came in after the new method of payouts at the beginning of February whereby items that are under £10 with regards to untracked sales are getting preferential treatment with whereby the seller will be paid within 2 days if the buyer leaves positive feedback.
Whereas if there’s a failed tracked item (which does happen quite often), whereby a buyer leaves positive feedback, same as above, the seller won’t receive payment for 14 days !!! ???
When a buyer leaves positive feedback thus confirming delivery there should be no difference if the item is untracked or failed tracked.
That needs sorted as it’s totally unfair

There are many sellers and buyers complaining about the changes with some coming up with alternative options, but ebay make the decisions, they want to keep up with competing venues online, and they wont see posts here like they would if they read up on the posts in the discussion boards.
Best to read and reply on the community discussion boards here, Discussion - UK eBay Community

Totally understand that but the newer rule is ridiculous re items under £10.
Untracked - positive feedback received - pay out in 2 calendar days
Failed tracked - positive feedback received- pay out in 14 days
Both situations confirming delivery.
Doesn’t make sense and very unfair, especially if someone has a few items like that in a row and desperately needs the pay outs asap.

To be fair to ebay, if carriers do not scan items on delivery, then it is them who are at fault, not ebay.
Just the same as scanning items as delivered when Just dumped on doorstep, ripe for stealing.

Thanks Plum33 for posting the link. I wasn’t aware eBay monitors the discussion board. Im fairly new to these discussions and haven’t found my way round them completely.
I noticed the option to discuss on a Wednesday between 2-3p. Unfortunately by the time I noticed the link, it was too late to post this week. I’ll try next week but I’ll also take a look at the discussion board you’ve mentioned.
My thoughts are people have complained about untracked items with positive feedback but failed tracking with positive feedback hasn’t been highlighted, therefore it’s been an oversight or overlooked.
Thanks again

That’s true but if they’re willing to payout on untracked items should a buyer leave good feedback, then surely it should be the same for tracked items whereby eg whereby a post man doesn’t scan the delivery meaning the delivery isn’t confirmed.
both things are the same in my opinion - both non confirmed deliveries so why favour one as opposed to the other. It doesn’t make sense

I understand but if they’re willing to payout on untracked out on an untracked item, then they should also be willing to payout on an item that isn’t scanned at delivery - it’s the same thing.
“ if 5he buyer leaves good feedback” - that’s confirmation it’s been delivered
