misleading seller feedback ratings

Not asking anything just expressing my frustrations in public i guess!

Recently have found a lot of instances of misleading feedback scores for sellers ! allow me to elaborate!
Look at a listing see seller has a feedback score of 100% then  dig deeper  to review that score and it turns out that rating is only based on the sellers PURCHASES! and NOT his selling performance to OTHER buyers!

So someone less vigilant might commit to a purchase ASSUMING that the seller has a good reputation based on there feedback score ! when the opposite is likely true! .

I say that because when i was looking at certain sellers( In the  motorcycle section!) it showed that despite there 100% BUYERS feedback they had NO SELLERS FEEDBACK WHATSOEVER! which taking into account there actual listings/products for sale/pictures/ business set up I would guess is because the sales are probably non-existent or buyers have been put off leaving negative feedback by fear of retaliatory responses!

All im saying is check your sellers feedback CAREFULLY and if you come up against anything like this then consider the purchase with a good deal of caution above and beyond what might be considered normal!.

Personally I think E-bay should only show any sellers SELLING FEEDBACK to prospective buyers as any sellers buying feedback -however positive! does not make them a decent or honorable person when it comes to selling!

To illustrate this I asked a question of one of the sellers regarding a legal(road traffics act & mot) issue with lighting regulations on a car engined trike they had for sale with a "full mot" and guess what?- no response or answer provided! what would you think?

take care out there all!.

Yep,  you are correct,  buying and selling feedback count together in the overall member's feedback score.

As you rightly say always best then to break that down by clicking on the tab ' Received as Seller', if wishing to buy an item from that seller.

If you were lookng at sellers in the Motors section its because if they were selling using classified ads then no feedback can be left.

All purchases should be made with a good deal of caution as you say, particularly motors and no payment until you have looked over the vehicle and are totally satisfied as there is no eBay protection for vehicles.
