item not delivered but tracking showing as delivered

An item ordered from eBay with email tracking saying it was delivered by Amazon!
Delivery confirmation email says left in porch near steps? We dont have a porch and there is no photo confirmation of delivery.

sent email to seller to say item not received but eBay blocked it. No other details to contact anyone?

what do I do now? Item cost just under £50!

I'm afraid that ' left in porch' is a generic term posties / couriers use meaning doorstep,  front door and similar.

We receive many posts here leading to the possible answer , that the item was stolen.

Neither eBay nor the seller can help, as tracking has shown delivery, and they have no control where a courier sees a place as ' safe' to leave an item.

You can try the courier again perhaps stating it was not left in a safe place, so in full view of passers by.  Otherwise,  try your home insurance  that may have the cover you need for a refund.

There was no photo confirmation to show where it was left. Just the word of the courier! The email saying it was delivered was sent 3 hours after time supposedly being delivered.

The item address was to a holiday park where all items are left at reception on entry to site as there is a security barrier to stop anyone entering further. Nothing left at reception, so courier must have left it at another address. Where is anyone’s guess!

This delivery procedure is a total farce with any courier saying they’ve delivered an item - when they haven’t. EBay make money, courier makes money, purchaser loses out every time!
Home insurance does not cover post not delivered.
Ebay are charging a buyers fee - for what purpose exactly! Nothing to do with items you don’t receive!

I am a member like yourself,  I can only pass on eBay's rules when a seller pays extra for a tracked service,  not all sellers use tracking.

When paying for this extra service,  eBay have to take the word of the service Company used when tracking shows delivery, otherwise it's a waste of money for the seller paying for this service.  eBay do not accept or require photo evidence, just tracking.

I'm sorry I do not know the clauses in your home insurance,  but others have that eventuality covered and have claimed successfully hence me asking perhaps yours does.

The only solution then is to try and get the courier company to prove the actual delivery and correct address where it went. They have insurance in place for these sort of  problems surely?
They need to train couriers in the job they are paid to do and guidelines to state that courier  has photo id of customer receiving item is necessary. If items  get ‘lost’ the courier responsible should be made to pay for item and delivery charges. That way there would be no rogue couriers who don’t do their job properly and would ensure safe delivery.

Obviously Amazon haven’t this training in place! I presume my item will probably be in the next sell off pallet batch!
